    Hi,

Thought I would just pass on this new site that was posted on the Monmouth rootsweb listings a couple of days ago.
A searchable index to 'The Cambrian' newspaper is available at

"The Cambrian was the first English language newspaper to be published in Wales, running from 1804 - 1930. Swansea Library Service is proud to announce that a computerised index to the contents of the newspaper is now freely available..."

Searching is free and although it circulated S Wales, it is certainly worth searching for other parts of Wales.
Tip: It is an "exact" search engine and will only find indexs with the word you entered. So, for example, if you are looking for the Name Rees also try Rhys, Reece etc.... Alternatively enter the town or county, it will provide more results but it opens up more. If you are lucky to find a relative you can order a photocopy from Swansea libarary services.

In less than 30 minutes, I found a marriage which confirmed the brides name (she kept changing it from one census to another), a death and a notice that one of the relatives was a conservative MP!

    Jenny
