No trace of a marriage on FreeBMD, but that isn't complete and only goes up to about 1910 anyway. Your best bet is to get a small sub to (I recommend them rather than 1837online.com because their database for 1866 - 1920 is fully searchable and it will be a lot quicker and cheaper.) When you find his parents' marriage, you can send for the certificate which will give details of their ages and the names of their fathers. Only then will you be able to start searching the censuses for the family tree.

    He Clive
Have you tried using the 1901 census online?
Also try using www.familysearch.org, it's run by the Church of the Latterday Saints (The Mormans) and has the 1881 census and several other facilities - Good luck
    John
