Hello, I write again having recieved such wonderful help and information from others using this site.they have pointed me in the right direction and actually taken the trouble to find specific information for me. So again I ask if any one can help with my next query.
That is the name MEE......My father was James Ball, born 28:3:1913 in Wolstanton, Newcastle,Staffs he had sisters, Elsie, Evelyn and Renee. His mother was Elizabeth Mee and father was William John Ball (I think).Elizabeth Mee was born 6:10:1889 and buried 7:11:1942 I am trying desperatly to find out WHO Elizabeths parents were, their names to be exact.but I dont know where to start, having such limited information. I have a photo of the people concerned, but how ever hard I try, no one seems able to put a name to the faces.
So in a nut shell what I am actually searching for is Elizabeth Mee's mother and father, who were they and their names and maybe where they came from etc.,
again even the tiniest bit of advice would be much appreciated.

Since you know Elizabeth Mee's date of birth, all you have to do is order her birth certificate and all your questions will be answered!

In 1891 there is the following.
    Bretherton Lancashire.
Looks like Londale, but in 1901 it is read as Randle? age 32 Farmer
    Margaret, 28, wife.
    Thomas, son, 4
Elizabeth Ellen Mee age 2 born Bretherton.

    Marriage Dec 1883 8e 709.
    Chorley Lancs.
    Randle Mee
On same page is Margaret Porter which ties in with the census.
I would get the birth certificate to confirm the names, but with such an unusual name I would think the chances are that the above are your names.

    Hi Rosemary,
Glad to help. I subscribe to Ancestry.co.uk It has all the available census 1861-1901 and links into freebmd for the births/marriages/deaths.
Only 1881 is free to view the images. It saves a lot of time and is easy to search - just fill in the search fields on the home page. To go back further, I then consult the IGIs on familysearch.org - but I find them difficult to come up with the goods so search the same IGIs throug GENIUK.co.uk, it is also worth checking to see if some kind soul has transcribed the parish records and made them available online. I also do name searches on genesreunited and Ancestry.uk to see if anyone else is researching the same families... I have found so many helpful researchers who have enriched my family tree with lots of background info, not just dates, it is well worth the time search. I am now only missing one line - and that was the one that started me off in the first place!
    kind regards
    Jenny
