Hi, can anyone shed light onto my family history? My Great grand parents were Ada Mary Keenlyside c1865 and John Edward Harris c 1860 they were from Jarrow or at least near to that area. I believe that Ada's father was named George Keenlyside c 1834/35, but have no idea who his wife was. John Harris's fathers name was Samuel I think, but again have no idea who his wife was. If any one has any knowledge of these 'missing links' in my family tree it would be brilliant.
Hi,
I have found Ada in the 1881 census living at 6 Railway Street, hedworth, monkton and Jarrow, Durham.
Details are:
Ada b 1865 saleswoman-milliner
Dorothy, wife, b 1831
George b 1835 head blacksmith
isabel, daughter, b 1858 dressmaker
John George, son, b 1867, chemist and druggist.
Joseph Burrel, son, b 1863, apprenetice blacksmith.
Robert, son, b 1861, clerk.
Hope this helps.
Kim

Hi again,
If you google, family search, and enter Georges name in the search details, in the pedigree file you will find details of his birth, his parents and their family. It even has the details of the person who submitted the info. Get in contact with him and who knows how far he will be able to go back with Georges family! Good luck

Hi K,
what a supper suprise, I never expected to hear so soon with advice, but HELP please...(I'm not too good with this search stuff) I went to Google, typed in google, family search and loads of things came up.where do I go from there? couldn't see anything with reference to Pedigree file. Hope you have the patience to reply to someone who might sound dense, I was so thrilled to think there was somewher to check.so I hope I can read the information you have sent to me, and I can search further.
thank you so much.I still search for the names of George Keenlysides wife and Samuel Harris wife though......Georges wife was named Dorothy, but I would love to fine her maiden name.....but I thank you for you help
I cannot put the web site up on here, but if you put family serach in google you should come up with the web site.
Once in there go to search, then put in Georges name. It should bring up all results. The top batch are under the tile Pedigree file, he should be in here if no luck let me know.
Foe now I can tell you that George was christened George(hexham) Keenlyside on 9/8/1835. His dad was Robert (hexham) Heenlyside and his mum was Isabella (Hexham) Dunwoody.
Hexham seems to relate to am area in Durham.
Good Luck.
Kim
No reason at all why you can't post URLs as long as you obey the rules.
The site you want is , the Mormon site which has a lot of genealogical information of all sorts. Take things like the Pedigree file with a pinch of salt though - some of it is wishful thinking! If you can find the actual transcriptions of the church registers there, they are good.
Sorry, a comma got in at the end of the URL.
thank you so much for your time and effort on my behalf. I have found the Mormon site and Georges details........absolutly brilliant.
Might I ask one more question!
would you have any advice on how to find the full name of Georges wife.I believe it to be Dorothy and as one of their childrens middle name was Burrell, I just thought that might have been her surname...how would I confirm this? any ideas would be much appreciated. crafty-lass
thankyou so much for your time and help.
I have found the Mormon site and am busy looking at it. I did find George Keenlyside, and still trying to confim his wifes name.I think it is Dorothy Burrel, only because one of their children had Burrel as thier middle name....is there any sure way of confirming this at all? any help would be much appreciated.

thankyou for so much information and your time .it is much appreciated. I did remember my mother saying that some of her grandparents were from Wellington....then went to Newcastle-upon-tyne.all your info just seems to tie in.but I think my problem is.I just dont appear to know how to get around these sites and use the searches.I do type in names and nothing of relevance seems to appear, then all these people are so kind and reply to me with such good information.I think I need lessons on using the information available.
thanks again.I will try.
Hi,
I have just checked out Samuel Harris on the Familysearch IGIs and it states he was christened 22 Mar 1840 Dawley Magna parents: John and Jane Harris.
The Robert and Mary Harris I mentioned in the last mail also had a son, Samuel Harris he was born 7 Jan 1830 and died 23 Oct 1836. I would say they are related in some way but maybe not your Samuel Harris's parents.
FYI - the IGIs are the parish registers that the Mormons have transcribed onto the web, you should always double check what you find as the transcriptions can be a little "off".
