Hi, is there anyone out there who is currently researching Patey or Hatful families? The Patey family in question came from Stonehouse, Devon, and I think the Hatful family is probably from the same area. I am trying to find relatives of my gr.gr.grandmother who was Matilda Eliza Hatful Patey, born 1807, who married Henry Charles Robinson, a surgeon, born 1807 or 1807. They married at Maker Church, Cornwall on 24.3.1828. Any help would be much appreciated. Rokeby

    Hi Rokeby,
On the 1861 census is the following family living at 55, St. Peters Road, Stepney, London. There is some differences in the details but they are to close to ignore.

    Henry C Robinson, head born 1808 Isle-of-Wight
    Occupation Surgeon.

Matilda C A, wife born 1807 Stonehouse, Devon.

    Elizabeth H, daughter born 1842 St.Pancras, London.

    Henry A, son born 1844 St.Pancras.

Emily S, daughter born 1846 Islington, London.

    Matilda F, daughter born St.Pancras.

Ann Patey Young, vistor born 1809 Stonehouse.

    Source Information RG9/298
Registration District Mile End, Old Town, London.
    Folio 113. Page 16

Trust this is the correct family

    Regards
    Spike

Hi Spike, yes this is the correct family, but I have drawn a blank in Stonehouse, Devon, in trying to find the baptism records of both Matilda Eliza Hatful Patey, who married my gr.gr. grandfather, Henry Charles Robinson, and Ann Patey Young, a widow, who I think may be Matilda's younger sister. Stonehouse is in an area near the Docks overlooking Plymouth Sound. The Plymouth Records Office searched for me but couldn't find anything for me, which is why I was hoping there might be someone else who was researching the Patey family. Thanks anyway. Rokeby.

Have you looked on the Guild of One Name Studies website to see if anyone has registered a one name study with them?
Another possibility might be to google the names on your websearch. This might throw up a web address of someone who is doing a one name study but who isn't registered with the GOONs.
Or have you thought about looking for the listing of one name studies published in the genealogy magazines? The Family Tree magazine usually has a few.
Or even placing your own advert in them?
    Don't give up.
