This is a real long shot, but i am trying to find out about my grandmother Harriett Charnock,i know absolutely nothing about her or her family.she married my Grandfather James Green, and gave birth to my Mother Doris in 1920,she died of cancer about 1922,to my knowledge, there has been no contact from this side of family since,my mother remembers visiting someone in Boaler street Liverpool 6 once, when she was little. On my Mothers Birth Certificate the Birth was registered at West Derby. After my Grandmothers death,my mother was fostered out to the Woods family, where she stayed till my Grandfather remarried some years later to Kathrine Blacklock and moved to 28 Onley street Liverpool.
This is a real mystery to me,and would love to know more about this lost and unknown side of my family.
Is there anyone out there who could help

It's back to basics! If you are new to family history and it is the history of Harriet's family you are looking for then I suggest that you arm yourself with some basic knowledge in order that you can take the first steps. There are lots of good books available that will assist you and there is lots of information available online. For starters:

If you are not interested in the actual family history but wish to make contact with living relatives then that's a whole different ball game and expert advice could be sought from the Salvation Army and similar organisations.

The first thing to do would be to purchase your Grandparents marriage certificate and from there go back and trace Harriet's birth certificate. You should also track down Harriet's death certificate.

I notice from the 1901 census that there is one Harriett Charnock who was born abroad and twelve Harriet Charnock's. One of the twelve is this one, which looks interesting from an age and a location point of view:
