I am trying to track down a William Henry Cox,
born in Birmingham about 1838-1841. I have him on the 1881 and 1891 censuses. In 1877 he was married to a girl from Sussex, so I am wondering if he wasn't in the Warwickshire area he may well have been in the Sussex area, perhaps where he met his wife.

Any help looking on the 1871 census would be
    greatly appreciated.

NB he is not the William Cox with a mother called
    Esther in 1871.

    Hi DocJoyce.
There is also a record of a William COX marrying a Maria ClARKE on the 2nd October 1843 at St. Martins, Birmingham, Warwickshire.

    Hello Spike
Thanks for coming to my aid once again. That family certainly looks like the right one that I have been searching for for the last year or so, but and it is a big but, as I was scolling around
familysearch last week quite by accident, in fact
I thought that the website had the wrong year down. I found the very same family complete with
William H Cox (librarian) in 1881, I do know that he was with his wife and children in Devon then. So it confirmed to me that they were not the correct family. If you remember back last week in my message on the board I was looking for a WHC on the 1851 as a 5-8 year old boy, this is because this particular family I have found on the 1871, 1861 and 1851 but without their son WHC.

Thank you very much for the interest though,
it shows people are looking for me.

    Joyce

    Hi DocJoyce,
Yes I remember your earlier enquiry and how much differculty you were having in tracking down your WHC. Had a quick go myself but did not get anywhere.
If you have a copy of WHC's marriage certiticate it should give his father's occupation which in turn would assist in selecting his correct father on a census return.

    Trust this is of help.
    Regards
    Spike

    Hi Spike

On WHC's marriage certificate it states his father as being named Thomas and his occupation is a jeweller.

This is why the family fitted the bill quite nicely, with the father being, apart from a brewer he is a silversmith. I know the name was not Thomas but William, but they did seem to change the names around a bit then.

    Thanks
    Joyce
