At last I have found my maternal grandmothers birth registration. The whole family were convinced that she was Frances Emily when she was in fact Fanny Emily.
I am hoping that someone with access with the 1891 Census could look her up for me as I don't seem see her on the 1901 Census.
Her full birth name is Fanny Emily Riches born May 13th 1882 in Edmonton, Middlesex.
My knowledge of the family history tells me that they have always resided in the Edmonton area, so I will assume that this will be the area they will be residing in during the 1891 Census.
If anyone is able to locate them I would really appreciate knowing the details of everyone else in the household and their details.
Many thanks
Michelle

Well Chelle, no Fanny but a search on 'Riches' born 1882 +/- 2 years using keyword 'edmonton' produces an Elizabeth and a Lily.
Searching just for Riches with no birth date but using the same keyword produces an extra 16 but there is no Fanny, no Francis and no Emily. Of course the name could have been transcribed incorrectly.
Don't suppose you want to give us a clue as to the names of the parents on the birth certificate, so that we can separate the wheat from the chaff?
I'll keep an eye open for the information to do the look up again when you respond.
Hi Isobel,
Thanks for taking the time to look up my request.
Unfortunately I don't yet have the certificate as I only found her birth registration last night, just prior to posting my request for census information.
Even though my mother is still alive, she turned 81 just over a week ago, she has no recollection of ever knowing the names of her maternal grandparents. The only clue I have in that regards is that her grandmother was possibly born in Ireland, but even that is not a confirmed fact.
My grandmother would have been 42 when she gave birth to my mother, so it is even likely that her parents were deceased by this time.
Once I get the certificate I will have the information I need.
Once again many thanks for taking the time to look it up for me.
Regards
Michelle
Michelle, as soon as you get the information post it and I'll do my best. I hope that you get it soon though because I shall be otherwise unavailable 2 weeks from now! No doubt someone else will step in if I have disappeared!
I bet you're on tenterhooks waiting for that certificate!
Thanks Isobel
Yes I can't wait to get it.
Well I best get moving.... 8.15am here in Melbourne and time to get the kids off to school.
Regards
Michelle

(The enumerator made an error and switched the mother and daughters name, it was only apparent when viewing the record what had happened).

So far, I can't find Fanny Emily on the 1901 but the above suggests she was either married, in service, or using a different first name.
