I am seeking any information at all about Frank Cairns. He married Mary Ann Blackburn on 28th August 1881 at St. James Church in Burnley, Lancashire. According to the marriage certificate he was living at Curzon Street at the time, he was aged 19 and there is no fathers name and occupation. It would seem that he and Mary Ann had three daughters,Lelia, Norah and Rose Ann.I cannot find him on any of the census returns, nor can I find a registration of birth or death. He appears to have vanished from the face of the earth leaving no trace whatsoever. Can anyone help or come up with any suggestions on what to do. Cheers.(I live in hope).

Hi,
The girls are listed on the 1901C but I cannot trace Frank for you. (Prehaps someone else will have better luck).
They haven't gone far from home and are listed as 4 out of 9 'Cairns' staying as Boarders in Burnley (RG13/3874 F108 P3),
Mary Ann, b.abt 1862 in Burnley
Lelia, b.abt 1883 Burnley
Norah, b.abt 1885 Burnley and
Rosannah, b.abt 1887 Burnley

Thanks for yourhelp but I already have the census details for 1901. The problem is "where was Frank"? I have looked for him elsewhere but to no avail. Cheers.

Hi loftyowl and reader
I am aware of both census returns. Have investigated both 1881census and 1901 census returns. 1881 details dont fit upon further investigation and the 1901 details refer to wife and three daughters. However, Frank himself, does not appear to be listed anywhere else. Thanks a lot anyway. Cheers.

Hi,
How sure are you that the Frank Kearns found in 1881 isn't the right one? I was checking through and found Francies Cairns in 1871 and thought it was him only to double check the 1881 and found it was the same one...

Reasoning why I think it is a possiblility - your Frank Cairns has a daughter Roseannah (grandmothers name) and another daugher called Norah which is a very Irish name, given that Frank's parents came from Ireland it sounds feasible.
BTW - 1881 image states Frank Kearns parent is infact Rosehannah head wid 60 (female) Scotland? another mis-transcription.
