How can I find age at death?

  Seems my G G G grandfather died in 1857 but there are two Edward Gorringe died in 1857 in Rye Kent. But there is no age stated. Does this mean that the age at death will not be on the death certificate if I send for them? His son Edward was in the Rye workhouse with his younger sister Jane in 1861. Other children Sarah was a servant and my G G Grandfather George was a 1st class boy on a naval ship. Can any have a look on the 1851 census to find the family so I can trace what happened to my G G G grandmother as I do not know her first name. All the children were born in the 1840's.

  The age at death i think should be on the death certificate, although there maybe instances where it isn't, but i would imagine it not common.
  
  I noticed that there was a Edward Gorringe born in the June Qtr of 1857 coincidentally in Rye, Kent. Was this his son ?

  Thanks for your reply. His son Edward was born in Dec 1/4 of 1843 in Lydd Kent as were all his children. They just ended up in Rye, probably because of the workhouse being there as its just 10 miles away. I suspect they all went into the workhouse at some point and Edward Snr possibly died there. Chances are that its possibly a cousin.

  The ages will be on the death certificates, but during this period the indexes do not have the ages.

  Thanks for your reply Spike. Though he died in Rye, all his children were born in Lydd, Kent so unsure where Edward was born. I think he only died in Rye because he was in the workhouse as where two of his chilren. I am awaiting his son's birth certificate which may give me more info and leads. Thanks for your help.
