Please can anyone help me, I am trying to trace a Robert Frost born 1812 in Cullompton Devon he lived in Cullompton all his life . Robert died in 1885. The IGI only records his birth but no other details. Robert was deaf and dumb. :}
The free access to the 1881C index given on Ancestry shows the following
Ref: RG11/2233 Folio 4 Page 1
Cottage, Cullompton, Devon
Johanna, head, b.abt 1821, Annuitant
Robert, cousin, b.abt 1815
Florence, niece, b.abt 1863
I don't have access to the earlier censuses. Prehaps someone else will look them up for you. This at least shows that he was still alive and in living in Cullompton in 1881.
I hope that helps
In 1841 he was living at 209 Higher street
ref HO107/0225. It is not clear who else lived at that house but will try and look further.Folio 12 page 18
In 1861 he was living at 90 High Street "Bird of Blair Inn?". He was marked as a cousin and lived with The Board family of 8 persons(Head Joseph Board)and their brother in law John Tuckett. Ref RG9/1477. His occupation was a general servant
In 1871 he was living at 92 New Street - again as a cousin with Richard Frost aged 58, Jane aged 56 and Silas aged 14. ref RG10/2167.
In 1861 & 1871 he was marked as Deaf & Dumb.
In 1841 and 1871 his occupation seems to be Cordrainer or something like that. Perhaps someone else could decipher.

Cordwainer. Basically a shoemaker but of the fine shoe variety.
In 1851 Robert is at Fore Street, Cullompton, working as a brewer. His employer, Charlis Ewens, is a victualler whose step-daughter Ann Hole is a barmaid.

Hi. Many thanks for the information .My Great grandfather was Richard Frost and Robert lived with the family for a while, he was a cordwainer[ person who works with Spanish leather]. If you find any more information about either Robert Or Richard Frost or any other members of the Frost family on the 1841 census I would be very greatful.

Thank you for the information you sent on Robert Frost.
All of the below are on the 1841 census and were born in Cullompton. But there is no sign of a Richard of about 28 years old. It may have been mistranscribed. I will take a look later, after tea. There was a Richard aged 28 but he was born in Sussex and when you look at the image, he's actually 25.
Richard Frost aged 50, wife Anna 50, dau Joanna 25, John & Richard aged 15 (Twins)Samuel aged 13, William 8, Charlotte 5.
There is also a Silas aged 30, wife Elizabeth 30 and Richard aged 4, in a different family. All born Cullompton as I said and still living in Devon.
There is a Richard Frost on the 1841 census aged 28. On a page full of Frosts, 18 one one page, I read the wrong one. He is married to Matilda aged 20 and a duaghter Sarah aged 1. Born in Sussex though and living Street End, Suffolk.
Ref HO107/1036 folio 12 page 18.
There are quite few Frosts from Devon George 25, Robert 35. There is also a Maria aged 56 with no man there just a load of children. Maria 15, James 10, Richard 7, Elizabeth 5. If any of these are related to you, let me know and I will dig up more info.
