George Gorringe b 1842 in Lydd Kent had two children - George b 1870 and James R b 1884. Married to a Margaret Jane Muckells and they lived most of their lives in Northumberland. I have found them in all except the 1881 census. As he was a bit of a lad (Married again in 1890 whilst Mary Jane was in Durham workhouse with young James) I would like to find out if they were together in 1881. Any one have any ideas please.
Thanks
Jo

Thankyou. This is them for sure. I was wondering why there was an 10 year gap between the brothers and put it down to the mortality rate being so high. Seems they did have siblings. Once before I coud not trace my ancestor Ayscough as they were mis transcribed and some kind sole found them under Ryscough. How do you find these mis transcribed people? Thankyou very much.

<QUOTE' USER='Jowin1' USERID='1940449'> How do you find these mis transcribed people? <BR />Jo </QUOTE><BR /><BR />In this case it was pretty easy - having selected the 1881 census on Ancestry, I just searched for all Georges born 1842 in Lydd and he was near the top and very obvious as a candidate. It's not always so straightforward!
