I have come across someone in my family research who is described in his child's birth certificate as 'manager of a gold mine in West Africa'. This was in 1901. I cannot find him in the 1901 census, nor in earlier censuses. Does anyone have any idea how I might identify the gold mine in West Africa?

I sympathise with you i am tracing my great grandfather though south america and he seemed to change mines like some people change thier underware. You have to remember when searching for mines is that they close and re open all the time. Plus change ownership.

    Good Luck
