Sir Morien: Black medieval knight

    Not Edward III's son. Whilst reading about medieval life, I was intrigued by the story of this dashing Moorish knight who supposedly lived at the time of the mystical King Arthur (odd when also using the phrase 'medieval'?).

    The date nor the Dutch author is known, but Sir Morien was described-
    "He was all black, even as I tell ye: his head, his body, and his hands were all black, saving only his teeth. His shield and his armour were even those of a Moor, and black as a raven."



    I haven't included quotes from the above article due to copyright, but fascinating story- even if pure legend?
