What's this the discovery in the 19th century of the code used by Samuel Pepys in his diary?

I'm sure I recall that Sam was involved in a futile treasure hunt somewhere in London. Could he have been looking for Berkstead's treasure?

This must rank as one of the most unsuccessful weekly quizzes ever but to bring it back to life Lazarus-like here's the googled answer:

Sir John Barkstead, goldsmith and Lieutenant of the Tower [of London] under Cromwell, was thought to have hidden a large amount of money (some say Β£20,000 in gold coins) somewhere in the Tower before his arrest and execution at the Restoration of Charles II. The diarist Samuel Pepys took part in several searches for the gold, as have a number of enthusiastic Governors, but 'Barkstead's Treasure' remains hidden to this dayΒ

Wonder whether it was while looking for Barkstead's (alleged) stash that they uncovered the skeletons - in the Clifford Tower, I believe - that have been thought to be those of the two Princes? That was in the 1680s, I think.

Anyway, Ur-Lugal, you were pretty close, if unspecific as to the location. Your go.
