milatry letters

    I dont know if im posting this at right place so please forgive me if its wrong,
    A woman i know has asked me to try and help her she asked what A.M.P.B stands for. I recently obtained a Manx birth certificate and the father's occupation was listed with an army number then Private and then the letters A.M.P.B. I have looked in most of the the army records for World War 2 and can't seem to find anythnig
    i live on the island and asked but no one semms to know,
