I have read about and been told about my six-times great grandfather, Randal (Randolph?) Sorton, who was apparently ship-wrecked, somewhere in the region of Whistling Sands on the LLyn Peninsular, North Wales, along with his brothers Ludwick and Meyrick. The story is told that they were fleeing from Scotland with King James II (around 1688?). The three brothers (refugees) settled on the LLyn and Randal Sorton died in 1734 / 5 and buried at Bryncroes.
I recently found a newspaper cutting from a gentleman living in Llanelli, dated 1983, asking if any readers knew of anyone who still carried the name of Sorton. He had written to the National Library of Scotland to see if they could throw any light on the Sortons and was devastated to be told that they had no knowledge of the family. I would very much like to know more of the background of Randal and his brothers.
    Please can you help?

The best place is if you can post this on the family history board where people may be able to help you.

Is this him mentioned in these articles

I checked trees on genes reunited .co.uk and there are 15 pages of people who have the name Sorton in their family tree dating back to 1700 up to now
It costs about Β£10 to join for six months to view the trees and communicate with tree owners and add your own tree.

You can join a major library to get access to 19th centuary newspapers to help in your research

Put Randolph Sorton 1668 into your search engine and you will come up with lots of trees and links to Rootsweb.
