my mother is being destroyed by dementia,i am searching for a model maker in ne lincolnshire, who will make a model lancaster, and house it in a glass case,as my mother is in a care home, when she sees lancasters it prompts a response, please help, thankyou
I'm sure you have all our sympathies, mstok. You might try enquiring of these folks:
Grimsby Model Centre
22 Lord Street
Grimsby, N.E.Lincolnshire
DN31 2LU
T: 01472 242391
E: sales@grimsbymodelcentre.co.uk
I'm sure that diecast model Lancasters are to be had for rather less than a pro modelmaker would charge you - I know Corgi made one, and IIRC Nauticalia sold a larger one quite recently. I hope you find one & it produces the effect you are hoping for
Hopefully the Model Centre suggested might be able to help or put you in touch with someone but if not then how about asking the local Air Training Corps if any of their members can help. Or you could try the local RAF Association. Is there a local museum associated all the wartime bomber airfields as they might have a shop.
Additional thought : Try the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. They might well know of someone.

I have written twice and cancelled ..
But I have fond memories of assembling I think an Airfix kit over fifty years ago and painting it.. The Lancaster hung from my bedroom ceiling for some time..
I am not much of a one for ebay but perhaps it might be worth a try.
I was thinking of a kit because I recall reading Felicity Kendal's "White Cargo" that she started writing when she was visiting her gravely ill father, and talking and writing about her childhood and the travelling Shakespeare theatre company that her parents ran in India was a help when she was in his unresponsive presence .
I just think that visits in these situations can be very hard- perhaps for both parties and- if your mother does respond to the image of a Lancaster she might respond to the picture and to the process of it being built before her very eyes.
It may be a totally inappropriate suggestion... but please forgive me if you feel that is the case..
