I hope it's appropriate here to make a brief but sad announcement?
It's with sadness that I pass on (from colleagues on Facebook) the tragic news, however quiet this forum is now, that Anne Gilbert, better known to many on many internet forums as 'Wulfhild', died shortly after Christmas 2010 after a battle with cancer.
Many on this site were perhaps not too familiar with this lady (whose primary internet interests were Paleoanthropology and History), but I know she used to post here (one of many forums) and she was a fellow moderator on a forum I frequent.
She will be sadly missed by those on the internet who debated with and 'knew' her..

Thanks Man Alive
I remember Anne's contributions to many debates here in the past, especially those regarding early medieval history, with great admiration for their lucidity and for the evidence they contained that there was a well-read and lively intellect behind them. I had only been thinking of her recently when an interesting topic involving late Roman and early Saxon history got bogged down in slavish adherence to favourite sources on the part of several of its main contributors. It was a perfect opportunity for Anne to set one of her many erudite spanners in the works, I felt.
I had already found myself missing her input. This sad news simply compounds that sentiment. Rest in peace.

Thanks for that, Man Alive. I didn't interact much with Anne, not having any knowledge in her area, but enjoyed her sensible posts.
Apart from her specifically, it is good to know that people will pass on this information to us; it is concerning when people disappear from the boards with no notice, I am still looking for someone who abruptly left another forum. I think he must have had an accident.
Thanks, Caro.

Thanks Nordmann.
NormanRHood, Anne's username online for many forums (including this one for a brief spell) was Wulfhild, a Scandinavian female's name.
Caro, You're welcome, sad as it is to relay. It seems Anne was more widely known, liked and respected online than she could ever have appreciated.

How old was she?
