  Hello All,
  
  I'll be taking over from Andrew, and looking after the message boards - I realise I have very big shoes to fill!
  I work on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ History website, and I look forward to being part of this community and your discussions…..

  All these bright, eager, welcoming little faces smiling up at you - do not be fooled for one moment - believe me, they're a right naughty lot, and you will have your work cut out controlling them.
  
  *Never* allow IslandDawn, Nordmann and backtothedarkplace to sit at the same table, and when backtothedarkplace asks to be Glue Stick monitor, say "No" very firmly and mean it.
  
  Take absolutely no nonsense from Andrew Spencer or TwinProbe - watch the Spencer boy especially, as he will provoke Minette Minor deliberately and then deny everything. Minette is actually a very capable girl, but she tends to daydream (when she is not fighting with AS). You should keep her occupied with difficult and challenging work: do not allow her to spend all her time colouring in pictures of Richard III.
  
  Make Caro form captain. Priscilla is the obvious choice for the office, but she (although exceptionally bright) is a *very* disruptive influence. Keep her well away from Nordmann: they egg each other on dreadfully, and if they take control of the class you will be lost forever.
  
  Tas is a dear little boy who works hard at all times. The others are also a delightful bunch, although you will have to be firm with Cass. He is never badly behaved, but he just doesn't know when to shut up.
  
  So, Katy, rather you than me. Just be firm but fair - in other words, let them do exactly what *they* want - and they'll love you.

  The oldest members of this board are Paul Ryckier, Minette and myself. We have been through many host and hostesses, some good, some excellent, some OK. Hope you will be among the good or excellent ones. I imagine this must be my sixth year on this board, or is it longer? During which time I have made many wonderful friends many of whom have drifted away. There have been some wonderful people on this board. However, some really obnoxious people.
  
  Every new host or hostess begins a new era. Hope yours will be a fun era, yet informative. Regards

  OMG I pop in for a quick peekette - and discover we have a new host! Ello Katy! I'm Grasshopper *offers hand for shaking purposes*.
  
  I'm a somewhat infrequent visitor in here, owing to a rather unpleasant incident in 2009 (I won't go into detail), which involved the reading of the Riot Act to certain individuals.
  
  However, I do pop in from time to time for the occasional post.
  
  Umm, you may notice that I sign myself KOTR when I'm in here. It means 'King Of The Roads' (will explain in another post).

  Welcome, Katy. I hope you have a good strong constitution though - as someone said, do not be fooled by all this nice talk. When the going gets tough, well, the going gets quite tough.
  
  I'm perturbed by Temperance's suggestion that I be form captain; for a start I think it indicates a feeling that I must be a goody-good. Secondly, at my school quite a number of years ago (like 45ish), we had a small Year 13. 14 girls, 11 of whom were made prefects. The other three were the newcomer to the school, the rebel who skirted round expulsion - and me! So polite and nice, but apparently not to be trusted. (You get away with lots in that case though - I seemed to be the only girl allowed to entertain my boyfriend in her room - a very blind eye was turned to him coming through the back door.)
  
  Other than that, she has it all down to a tee. I'd be specially wary of backtothedarkplace. A meverick if ever there was one. Temperance, of course, is charming but likely to suddenly know more than the teacher, even if she pretends not to. Do not be taken in.
