Hi all
Well after 5 years hosting on the History boards the time has come for me to step down. Lovely Katy will be taking over - she's a veteran of other Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ message boards and knows the ropes, so don't hesitate to shout if you need any assistance.
She will introduce herself shortly, I'll also be around for the rest of the day.
Best wishes to you all - and thanks for a stimulating and informative half-decade!

Thanks Andrew! You have been a good host.
And those Friday Quizzes, although I could answer just one, were a nice idea. They made you think a little although some of the respondents were so quick you barely had any time to think. Shows how bright some of the habituΓ©s are on this board.

To be honest a lot of questions are more acts of desparation than planning - even so I've never failed to be impressed with the member's ability to answer obscure facts I've gleaned from my frantic casting about on a Friday morning.... -

No reason why you still can't come and visit once in a while, and get stuck into some historical dicussions, is there...? -

I visit a few other messageboards on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, including cricket, tennis, athletics and boxing, and the way the mods operate on those MBs are a mystery to me....
However, I must say that I have always found the way you've operated, Andrew, has always been transparent and above board. I always felt able to discuss the approaches you'd taken, and the feedback has always been greatly appreciated. I also have to say that I think this is the best moderated MB I have seen on 606, and you will be missed.
However, I'm sure you've briefed Katy on how to live up to the high standards you will have left for her.... -

Hi Shivfan,
Thank you - it's been a steep learning process! Each of the boards will pose different challenges in terms of hosting and modertion - and attract different personalities/types of discussion too - what may work for one board may not work on another.
Katy is a veteran of some lively boards in her own right - so you will be in capable hands!

Andrew, sorry you are going; you will be missed. I once solved one of your Friday quizzes and was beaten by someone who posted the answer more quickly than me!.
