yes you would
tried no luck.
There was some bombing in the area. I heard tales of it when I lived in Edgware.
Do not forget that Hendon had an airfield then also there was RAF Bentley Priory in Stanmore not far away.
Have you tried the local newspaper archive?
i didnt know any of that, so thankyou very much.
You sometimes find that the local reference library can assist on questions like this. I suggest that you try ringing them up.
Some of them keep what is known as a 'Bomb Map', showing the local area and using coloured spots to define where bombs struck.
1943 sounds a bit late for bombs, and a bit too early for V-1s, but I could be wrong on both counts.

Barnet can go even further. The Burough's Local Studies Collection is available for just such research and contains a complete record of all incident logs related to bomb damage and casualties (correlated from all relevant authorities) and arranged by date from 1940 to 1945. The record is divided into three, covering respectively the districts of Finchley, Hendon and Barnet. It is housed in Hendon Library.
For more info you can visit them, give them a call or e-mail them. Details for doing so are:

Hello - don't know if this is of any use to you but I know there was one bomb fell on Woodfall Avenue, High Barnet - it was around no 45 or so. My parents lived at no 59 and I know it was around six or so houses from them. My father told me once that he had just spoken to the man who lived there outside our house and by the time he had got home the bomb had landed killing him and I believe his wife and child. Also I believe one fell on what used to be the sewage works (may still be) off Mays Lane. I am sure there was also one somewhere behind where Waitrose is now.
best wishes Janice
