Add to that list Laura Veirs. Not bad comparisons.
Was never a big Joanna Newsom fan, but my partner is, that is until I saw her perform at ATP last year. Breath taking stuff, did well up with tears part way through the set. Another performer that I'd travel to see again and again and again.

Drove down from N. Staffs to see Ms Newsom play support to someone I can't remember in that church social club venue in Bristol, St Bonaventures. I'm glad I made the effort - the next time the fine artist came through the uk she was playing a sell out gig at The Barbican or somewhere complete with an orchestra. Extraordinary. And most of that startlingly changed state came about through word of mouth ...
And yes, Laura Veirs, well what a grand one. . And odd world that it really is, I'm proud to say that, in her hour of need we provided the eyewear which can be seen on the cover of her 'Year of Meteors' album !
Now I wonder if our good late night dj ever received a copy of the Meg Baird album about three years back ? It was out on Wichita.
Possibly not ...
