Grandaddy - He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's The Pilot (from The Sophtware Slump)
That's me done for now, will report back later
Couple of openers
Farewell Transmission by Songs: Ohia, strange title for an opener but still brill.
Panda by Dungen, bring your own wig.
Couple of closers
Looking Glass by The La's
Alaskan Pipeline by James which not only closed 'Pleased To Meet You' but at the time looked to be their last track on their last album...then they reformed and sort of ruined it.
Okay then, closing tracks...
Idlewild - In Remove Part / Scottish Fiction (from The Remote Part)
Calexico - All Systems Red (from Garden Ruin)
Doves - Ambition (from Some Cities)
Graham Coxon - Ribbons and Leaves (from Happiness in Magazines)
The Shins - A Comet Appears (from Wincing The Night Away)
Will think further.... (but don't hold me to it)
Only album s left now and "Spider and I" is already on another thread!
I was looking for the album that Ultravox's "My Sex" is on, starting with "Systems of Romance" and going back to "Ha! Ha! Ha!", but this haunting, beautiful tune is from the 1976 debut album "Ultravox!" - from the year BEFORE X Ray Spex!
It's a cracker - not only because it is the only song I know containing the word "overspill"...

So much for being clever - when trying to type < C L O S E R > as you imagine it with marble statues, beware how the message board software recognises bulletin board code, e.g. with < s and >s!
A few closers:
The Teardrop Explodes - The Great Dominions (from 'Wilder')
The House of Love - Se Dest (from the second self-titled album)
The Human League - WXJL Tonight (from 'Travelogue')
The Beach Boys - Cabinessence (from '20/20')
Bryan Ferry - Another Time, Another Place (from the album of the same name)
Peter Gabriel - Here Comes The Flood (from 'Peter Gabriel 1')
Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - Perfect Blue (from 'Easy Pieces')
The Psychedelic Furs - All Of This And Nothing (from 'Talk Talk Talk')
Gene Clark - Lady Of The North (from 'No Other')
Ride - OX4 (from 'Going Blank Again')
Echo and the Bunnymen - All My Life (from the self-titled fifth album)
I think the word "overspill" also appears in "Parachute woman" by The Rolling Stones. I could be wrong.
There's also the "Stevenage overspill that we'd kill to live around" mentioned in 'Maladjusted' by Morrissey.
It's probably a tad late to suggest 'Rain' by Martin Stephenson and the Daintees (from 'Boat To Bolivia') now...
