As this board and the man himself are the epitome of good taste, I hope you won't mind me using it to pay tribute to a recently departed singer and lyricist who, whilst, not particularly well known, was as important to me as the likes of Morrissey and Paul Buchanan.

I only discovered this week that Craig Lorentson, former fontman of the, long-departed, Grangemouth band, Lowlife, passed away in June, at the age of 44, following liver and kidney complications.

The band produced 6 fantastic albums and a couple of EPs and singles but were, unfortunately, never destined to become recognised in the way they maybe should have been. Craig was a powerful lyricist and singer. His writing was dark and intense, with much intelligence, always coming across strongly and with a great deal of emotion. The band's music centred quite heavily around the deep and driving basslines of former Cocteau Twin, Will Heggie, and it was atmospheric, beautiful and inspiring.

Rumours did abound of a reformation, particularly after the re-release of a lot of their material, via the LTM label, but I don't think Craig was well enough, by then, to undertake this. Their last album, 'Gush', was released in 1996, bringing to an end around 9 years of amazing songs.

I won't post a YouTube link here, in case it falls foul of moderators, but a search for Lowlife 'Ramafied', or Lowlife 'Colours Blue' will take you to two of their outstanding songs and there's lots of audio youtube clips of a fair bit of their material; well worth a look, if you enjoy the likes of The Chameleons, Comsat Angels, Joy Division, Interpol and Editors.

Sorry for rambling on a bit, but I really wanted to put this out somewhere where people may understand and appreciate why I wanted to do it.

    Rest In Peace, Craig........

    Thanks Richard.

Sharing music is a big part of these boards. Just listening to Tongue Tied and Twisted now and will play it on Monday.

Wonderful stuff and a band that needs to be played on the radio. Thanks again Richard.
