Sorry peppermimtpatti, not been on t'internet much recently or I would have commented sooner. As you know the Welsh acts, I'll just comment on the ones I know:

Alphabet Backwards (straight forward indie-pop, fun)

Dry The River (above average alt-country)

Dutch Uncles (big faves of 'Uncle' Marc - I'm not convinced but there was a Sparks/XTC type thing going on in the tracks I did like)

Egyptian Hip Hop (behind These New Puritans, they were my daughter's second favourites at Offset Festival - included on her recommendation!)

Islet (can't describe them - astonishing live act)

Let's Wrestle (another of Mr Riley's reliables and I agree - a lot of fun!)

Magic Kids (haven't seen these but have been recommended to me - classic American indie-pop apparently)

    Peggy Sue (dark alt-folk)

Standard Fare (indie-pop Sheffield trio with boy & girl vocals)

    Trembling Belles (epic Glaswegian folkies)

Veronica Falls (exciting live band with a shoegaze/goth type feel)

Visions Of Trees (I'm undecided about these - electro duo with a kind of Euro-trance female vocals but occasional chunks of Krautrock and primal sounding percussion).

Anyway as you know the Welsh "scene" well, can you tell me: Are the truly wonderful Melys active again or is this just a one-off for SWN?

I could only go on Friday (moving house and family illness), VEG Club were fab and saw friends on Sunday who'd been to loads who said it was excellent, good turn outs and quite a few gems found.
Lots of people talking about The Ex, Bellini, The Swans in a good way, Perfume Genius in a bad way. Asked about Melys, sounds like it was more of a one off.

This is an excellent blog that will have reviews of SWN over the next few days, Vivers is a friend of ours and is an excellent reviewer, so check out what he writes, he's always spot on and writes beautifully:

Would be great if round table could get some music blog writers in who are enthusiastic and listening to new music in on the panel.
It'd be fab to give their writing and blogs a higher profile, as none of them get paid they do it because they love music and would give the show an edge it's missing.
