Date to be confirmed. Sometime in October I'd expect. Records must be at the very least 6 minutes long. Some can be much longer. Suggestions here please
Thanks.

Damnation Alley by Hawkwind
Two suggestions if I may.
1) - "Screamadelica" by Primal Scream, (from the Dixie Narco EP). 10 minutes 42 seconds of blissed our brilliance.
2) - "You Gonna Miss Your Candy Man" by Terry Callier. 7 minutes 21 seconds of soulful jazzy genius from possibly the nicest man in the world.

Some suggestions, which I haven't on the wireless (but happy to hear "Poptones" or "Safesurfer" again anytime)
Television: Little Johnny Jewel
The Waterboys: Savage Earth Heart
The Triffids: Field of Glass (Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ session?)
Tom Waits: Road to Peace
Neil Young: Crime In The City (Sixty to Zero, Pt.1)
Lush: Desire Lines
Patti Smith: Land
Willard Grant Conspiracy: Let It Roll

Van Morrison: Madam George or Cyprus Avenue (I'd vote for Madam George).
The Doors: LA woman (I think it's long enough but I'm not certain).
Songs from some of my favourite artists which aren't noted for extended noodling on their records.
R.E.M.'s only plus-six minute studio-album song: Leave from 'New Adventures in Hi-Fi' comes in at just over 7 thumping minutes.
From Natalie Merchant: House Carpenter from 'The House Carpenter's Daughter' CD sneaks in at 6.01 minutes. Natalie's cover of Katell Keineg's Gulf of Araby on her fab live record 'Live in Concert' is certainly worth the 7 or so minutes of airtime it would take up.
Finally, a-ha's (yes, a-ha!) 9 minute atmospheric epic Cold as Stone from the band's most rock-orientated record 'Memorial Beach'.

Dunno if any of these will appeal to folk but there's a grand version of ' Shoo-Fly ' by a team consisting of Bo Dollis, Monk Boudreaux and Rebirth Brass Band.
Sweetness itself is Boubacar TraorΓ©'s ' Soundiata '
Tom Robinson fave, Ruth Theodore has a cracking song ' Eris ' ( giss a kiss Eris now a catchphrase in this household. Jim the dog always obliges ... ) ' Eris ' conatains the odd word heard in junior school yards the nation over so may not pass the bbc's curious 'thick of it' regulations.
I'm more than happy to be subjugated to Marc Ribot's ' Esclavo Triste ' although it's partially the intriguing thought of those prosthetic Cubans he has claims to have playing with him.
What else ?
Well this is a cracker - Joaquin Clausell & Kerri Chandler's 'EscrΓ΅vos De JΓ΄ which is a robust tune that Gilles Peterson placed on one of his Brazilian collections ...
Natalie Merchant has already been mentioned and why not. Her 'Thick As Thieves ' is quality ...
'Moanin ' by Charles Mingus needs no explanation and neither does ' Wetin De Watch Goat, Goat Dey Watcham ' because Eric ' Showboy ' Akaele & His Royal Ericos will tell you all you need to know.
And to add to the programme's Youssou N'Dour output, his ' Thiapathioly ' fits the bill perfectly !

Technically listed as two separate tracks, but Western Wind/Tankerville by Saint Etienne. Also the 7.52 edit of Sensoria by Cabaret Voltaire, and Somebody Up There Likes Me by David Bowie.
Velveteen by Transvision Vamp - nine minutes of preposterous wonderfulness.
Fool's Good by Stone Roses
And one more: The Upper Classes by The Auteurs.

Can I break with convention and suggest a long song NOT to play? As you started the Short Record Night with King Missile's heroic "Cheesecake Truck" I was hoping I could suggest a long KM track to do the same. The only 6+ min track I have by KM is "Gay Not Gay" off 1998's Failure album. As I'd quite like you to keep your job, I don't suggest spinning this disc on national airwaves. However I do encourage those not easily offended to seek it out ... it poses some thoughtful questions and might make you laugh.
Agree with Jason's suggestion of Giant by The The. But I'd have gone for 'My Sister' by Tindersticks

cooking,
'Gay Not Gay' follows a very similar construction style to ' Indians ' by the late, great Roxy Gordon. Unfortunately that Roxy song doesn't qualify under the six minute rule. As it's under six minutes !
This is I believe the only bit of Roxy's work on the tube. Nice bit of work by the film maker though.
Words Roxy Gordon. Music Wes McGhee.

From the bbc : "Cuiridh Iain Mac'illeMhìcheil agus a chà irdean an deireadh-seachdain air a chasan"
OR Gaelic and country music with John Carmichael and guests... and he's the only dj that I know who has played Terri Binion. Her ' What Happened Between Richard Payne And Burton Post ' smashes through the 6 minute barrier.
Just.
And her album ' Fool' is an overlooked gem, imo.

Enjoyed the show - good mix of tunes, but obviously not enough. 6 Music need a long record day ...
It doesn't really seem like 11 months since the last Long Record Night. You can't have played all of these last time.
Does anyone mention Focus's "Hamburger Concerto" (20:19) in this thread? well, I have now.
