For a compilation I'd like to do, either voodoo in the title or generally a feel of voodoo ( say like 'I put a spell on you ')
So I've got
Voodoo Rhythm by The Meteors
Frenzy by Screaming Jay Hawkins
Any more ??
I might have to extend to witchcraft if I can't get enough
Tons of voodoo calypso songs, look for stuff like Lord Executor.
C W Stoneking’s latest album, which Gid played a track from last night, is VERY heavily indebted.
Try this
Not quite Voodoo, but The Jezebel Spirit by David Byrne & Brian Eno would fit well, with it’s rhythms and samples from an exorcism.
"Witch queen of New Orleans" by Redbone springs to mind. I have to admit, though, that I'm not sure what Voodoo is. I have a vague idea that it's a blend of Christianity and some sort of magic-based religion from somwhere like Haiti. I could be talking total rubbish so I'm orf to Wiki for some enlightenment.
I've found "Voodoo Boogie" by J B Lenoir, "Voodoo Daddy" by Lonnie Brooks, "Voodoo Woman" by Koko Taylor and a few others, "Voodoo Head" by Groovy Chainsaw, "Voodoo nipplefield"(!)by Neon Judgement, "Voodoo Man" by Del-Vikings.
You'll be wanting some early Dr. John in there. Take your pick from the debut album Gris-Gris.
elephant's memory's old man willow - makes me think witchcraft more so than voodoo. same thing happens with marc bolan & trex's cat black.
Good grief, eight messages in and not a mention of Voodoo Chile...
I'm trying to think of some more but my good lady has bought me some of my favourite chocolates and I can no longer concentrate.

Surely some Dr John, particularly Gris-Gris, Babylon and Gumbo should fit the bill.
There's also Chris Isaak's Voodoo, The Cramps' Voodoo Idol, The Gun Club's Fire Spirit (Fire of Love has voodoo symbols on the front), I Walked with a Zombie by Roky Erikson (the film of the same name is about voodoo - zombi being the voodoo term), 'Citi Soleil' by the Afghan Whigs, or something from Ju-Ju by Siouxsie & the Banshees.
'Hoodoo Voodoo' by Wilco is a good one, and 'Zydeco Gris Gris' by Beausoil from The Big Easy soundtrack...

Paul, that tune is surely in the wrong thread, what with it being 10 minutes long? Here's another Lee tune over 6 minutes long. This one's about voodoo too, er except it's not it's about devils which is kinda the same thing, i fink.

How about Voodoo Voodoo by Laverne Baker, that one's definitely about voodoo, and much shorter than Mr Perry:

LaVern Baker ... gosh brownsauce, did I ever tell you about the day I helped a mate go and collect the great, classy lady from Gatwick ?
Paul the cushion is plumped, but wouldn't it be easier for you to just give me a list of great classy ladies you haven't collected from Gatwick?

brownsauce, you might be right
Ms Baker was a real pro though. The Liverpool venue where she had to perform felt like a disused nuclear bunker. But even after an overnight Atlantic flight and the horrors of our ( back then ) motorway 'food' she and her band gave the audience one unforgettable performance.
Cardiffian,
Just been watching Screaming Jay as I was sorting out some video tapes to get rid of and relocated the Jim Jarmusch ' Mystery Train ' where our man is the hotel receptionist. I saw him just the once. I think he was supposed to scare the audience but it was Mr Hawkins himself who was unnerved by the Rock & Roll enthusiasts at the front of the stage. Great night!
If Hoodoo is allowed you could have Alison Moyet's "Hoodoo" or St Etienne's "Hoodoo you think you are?"...
Wouldn't Jo Good get her keyboard out and start chanting "Major" for this one - Voodoo Ray?
