... ever been given a "Thanks to..." mention on an album release? And by that I mean a proper album release, not the 4-track recording your mates knocked out on a C-30 tape, with a photo-copied cover, back in the '80s.
I mean a proper, available for purchase in a shop, record with a genuine catalogue number and everything? I'm not talking about a credit for performing on an album, or the production, or mixing the thing, or even just making the tea but an honest-to-goodness, "And special thanks to XXX, without whom this album would never have been produced. You encouraged us when everyone else just laughed", sort of thing.
It's on my list of 100 things to do before you die. Sadly, I've made little progress on this front so far and in reality, I think I may have to befriend someone with some discernible musical talent to give myself even the slenderest of chances of achieving it.
So, has anyone beaten me to it?
I've had a few name checks on legit records but nothing of the "without ****'s spectacular input we would all have just given up and got day jobs selling anti-chafing gel or assembling inedible hamburgers" variety.
If it means so much to you, I'm quite happy to print such a dedication to you on my next release. I'll follow on by stating that the appalling quality of my writing, playing and singing isn't entirely your fault.
All the best
Mah, I'm nowhere near inspiring enough to be given a "thanks to...". What kind of circles do you think we move in?
yes.
think it's 3 or 4 albums that have me mentioned.
there's also an old picture of me on an album. luckily, it's a limited edition vinyl re-issue as part of a box set.
