Hi all. Trying to find out the name of the band whom Gid played Monday July 19th, just over a week ago towards 11pm.
The song was definitely called 'Reject' but band name not on Tracklisting page and I couldn't make out their name on the iPlayer when Gid back-announced it (my ears obviously ain't what they used to be!).
"L. C. Fitz" or somesuch was what I thought he said.
Best thing I've heard in ages and I want to track it down, new or old.
Your help much appreciated.
Perhaps this will lead to a new thread about which songs you have spent the most amount of years trying to identify or get hold of!
(Think mine would probably be Niemandsland - the B-Side of single Reisefieber - by Die Toten Hosen. Short clip of it on The Tube in about 1983, 20 years to find out what it was, and another 5 to get hold of it!)
Cheers
Mooro

Hi Richard,
I'll try to find out for you. I know how infuriating it can be. Back in the mid-80's there was a song played on Radio Caroline on quite high rotation for about 3 months and it was never back-announced. Ever. I never found out what it was and eventually stole the chords to write my own ham-fisted version so I'd remember it.
Still do. Still don't know what it was.
F Am B.. I think.

Richard, I think the band might have been Elti Fits - with ex-Fall man Karl Burns on drums. As for the song title I'm no help there. Good luck with your search. Al

Thanks for the reply Gidarmy.
Mr. Coe even mentioned the thread at the beginning of last night's show. Sadly, he can't remember.
Wish I'd posted this thread whilst people could still 'listen again' on the iPlayer. I'm doomed!
It's really the worst feeling isn't it.
Cannot believe you had to put up with listening to that song for 3 months with no info. And then 20 years+ in purgatory.
Just played those chords on my acoustic in various different rhythms, but doesn't ring any bells. You'll have to hum it to somebody.
If you remember any of the lyrics you might have some luck with an on-line search? Or else we'll have to go through every song from the 80's til we crack it.....!
I tried feeding that song 'Reject' that I'm after through one of those 'song identifying' apps and it failed miserably.
Doomed I tell ya...!
Cheers

Could well be Elti Fits. They definitely featured on the programme recently and they have a song entitled reject. I think you can listen to it at lastfm.
Good luck. thanks Al. Here's hoping.

Woo hoo!
Yes indeed it is. Thank you Al, you are a genius. Tried posting a reply a few mins ago to you but, it seems to have disappeared.
Anyway, I've just downloaded a version of Reject from a punk website, absolutely fantastic. Think Gid played a version from Peel Session Sept 79.
Me being a massive Fall fan and Karl Burns being on drums, yet never having heard of Elti Fits. Hang my head in shame!
Thank you again Al, you've saved me years of heartache (there will always be a replacement heartache Richard, I hear you say!)
And now perhaps we can help Gidarmy in the pursuit of his Great Lost Song...
Thanks both,
Mooro

Mr. McGregor you are a genius!
Yes, I have just checked this out and it is indeed Reject by Elti Fits (probably from a Peel session Sept 1979, 'Keeping It Peel').
And amazingly - given I am a huge Fall fan - it does indeed feature Karl Burns on drums. Yet I've never heard of Elti Fits before.
Ah well, now the many years trying to find a vinyl or CD copy of their EP can start...!
But a very big thank you Al, you've at least saved me from decades of fretting about who the devil made that song. I am indebted.
All the best
Mooro

Nice one Richard. I remember Peel playing the session, and thinking what a great name for a band. Songs weren't bad either Al

I've just tried those chords on my guitar; it's an unusual sequence and it rings no bells with me either. I tried them in 4/4, mid tempo, 1 bar each. F to A minor makes sense, but to then go to B major just doesn't make sense. What kind of deviant would stick a B there? I may try to write a tune using those chords just for the hell of it but it will probably be awful. Arthur Lee was good at getting great tunes out of odd changes, so was Syd.
