Listened to the brilliant Malcom Maclaren show this weekend and heard him end with that 'Love Will Keep Us Together/Love Will Tear Us Apart mashup, it got me to thinking about those other great opposites in the history of modern song.
There's loads aren't there, loads I tell you, I mean there's Start by the Jam and Stop by the Supremes for one, and then there's...uh....um.....er......
I'm In Love by Bobby Womack and I'm Not In Love by 10cc.
Stairway to Heaven and Highway To Hell.

'Loose Fit' by Happy Mondays vs anything from the extensive back catalogue of Tight Fit.

I apologise for mentioning the name of... Slade.
This is quite hard. I can't believe there's never been a song recorded called 'She's Really Heavy, She's My Sister'. Or one about the slowest milkman in the East.
Talk Talk did it over two albums...
- I Believe In You
- I Don't Believe In You

New Order - Blue Monday
The Cure - Friday I'm In Love
10cc - I'm Not In Love
Gallon Drunk - Fire Music

See? A loop! There's an opposite in each pair. I particularly liked the juxtaposition of metric and imperial units of volume, even if it was in the band name and not the song title. I tried hard to get Yello - Blazing Saddles in too, but gave up.
She's So Heavy on the Beatles's Abbey Road could be an answer to He Ain't Heavy...
Running up that Hill - Kate Bush
Over the Hillside - The Blue Nile
Hello - Lionel Richie
Goodbye - The Sundays
Sweetness - Lloyd Cole and The Commotions
Bitter - Lush

Bittern Storm over Ulm by Henry Cow, followed by Soft as Snow (But Warm Inside) - My Bloody Valentine (provided there's an area of cold pressure, no?)
Is there a record called "The Same Kind of Tension"?
There are so many conflicts in The Buzzcocks' "A Different Kind of Tension" that my head feels like it should explode.
On a Country theme - "Stand By Your Man" and "D.I.V.O.R.C.E."...
It's Over - Roy O
We've Only Just Begun- the Carpenters
I'm back on the boards after spending too much time on twitter.

For the benefit of the duffers amongst us, can you explain all this "twitter" business? What it is, how it works, what's the point, and so on? It's all very well for you youngsters. Some of us are well past 37.
Meanwhile:
Just Say Yes - The Cure
Just Say No - Grange Hill
I've got:
Bob Dylan: Lay Lady Lay

Much harder than punning this one. Like I think my puns are so good.
