So what is the most modern, up to date, most recently released track that anyone has listened to on a cassette player ?
Anyone listened to Pixie Lott on a BASF Chromdioxid II (hope not) or The Besnard Lakes on a TDK Metal ?
I last listened to a cassette in my mum's car on the way down to Glastonbury in 2004 (she wasn't with me) and I did some tapes to listen to on the way down. Not sure what was on there but there must have something from 2003 I'd've thought.
Any advance on 2003 then ?

I listen to my records in the car on my DAB radio cassette.
Scritti Politti's "White Bread Black Beer" from 2006 is one of the newest, but I think Grand Corps Malade (French rapper, also 2006) has it for newest artist and newest record. I no longer feel I must rush out to buy things, and when I do, they are usually from the 80s or 90s!
You just can't beat Howard Devoto's "Jerky Versions of the Dream", you see!

With tape brands, others are available, but who else has found that the orange-label BASF with SM have not withstood the test of time well?

Are others available. I 'borrowed' my Dad's copy of Out Of The Blue (ELO) when I got my first walkman in 1983, it was on an orange BASF tape and it still works!
As for Stoatboy's fine suggestion, I too last made several compilation tapes for the journey to and from Glastonbury in 2004. I had no idea of the significance at the time, that it would be the "Last summer of tapes".
I finished my compilations on the Monday before the festival the next day which makes the appearance of The Concrete's Say Something New quite interesting as that was the day it was released. So that is my, rather dull, answer.
