R.I.P Alex Chilton
so that's Vic Chesnutt, Mark Linkous, Charlie Gillet and Alex between the solstice and the equinox. not a good winter.
Played some tunes for Charlie last night. Fond memories of handing over to him at 6pm on a Saturday night.... Precisely or we'd be in trouble.
A great musical brain and great broadcaster. And ear opener.
And will play a couple of tunes for Alex Chilton later...
Maybe Friday I can, Get tickets for the dance. And I'll take you...
RIP Alex. Look forward to the tunes/tribute tonight, but wish all these greats would stop dying for a while ...
"I never travel far, without a little Big Star"
your talk of CG last night made me smile - the 6pm handover and the slight disapproving look if the record before it wasn't up to his liking. A true gent though.
"we all want to be Big Star, but we don't know how and we don't know why" sang Counting Crows, live he would often sing "i wanna be Alex Chilton" instead of Dylan.
