I'd stopped listening to 6 first thing but having Gid on in the mornings is just like the old days. Ah, them days! It feels like George Lamb never happened. Could lose the 'skits' though...
He's perfect for breakfast radio, gentle tones and decent music. Lamb just makes me turn the radio off.
I do miss the evening shows, but he has been lovely in the mornings and so much music!!

agreed love gid in the mornings but you'd have to feel sorry for him getting up at some awful time
lose the skits
Purely selfish but I miss Gids in the evenings. Until 6Music is put on FM (hopefully early next year after the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Trust increase its budget) I can't listen to the morning show.
Mornings this week have been a pleasant diversion, but 9pm-midnight he's the Guv-nor!
I must admit Mike, the trouser news would be of more use in the morning BEFORE you put on your slacks rather than in the evening!
Hear hear! I once left my house to go to work having put my shoes on but had neglected to put on my trousers. Perhaps a reminder to dress properly with every time check would be the way to go. Public service broadcasting: making sure the people of Hastings don't have to look at my legs (or my pants) just after breakfast.
Is it me or is Gideon being more cheeky on the morning show? I keep chortling at some of the comments he's made about 'feeling your age'.
I love hearing him in the morning, miss hearing him in the evening though. Maybe I should put the iplayer on in the evenings and listen to him twice?
I know the TOGs have been alienated by whinger brashness and long for woganesque "chilled-out" erudition.
I spat my toothpaste out all over my shirt at today's whimsical "slice of life".
Shaun's more-aggressive style hides the fact that he, too, is a very intelligent bloke with an interest in language and a good knowledge of surrealism. But who launched the topic "Save Donington - Lobsters of Rock"? eh?
Forget "I kiss you on both cheeks". Did Shaun start before Gid moved? Or do I just have to imagine them talking to each other?
Shaun: That was a song by the Morden Wombats, I mean the Merton Parkas. Morning Gid.
Gid: Morning Mr. Postman.
S: If you were an artist, Gid, what would you create?
G: Funny you should ask me that, Shaun. I've made a little video I call "An Andover Dog" featuring two grand pianos containing dead and rotting donkeys, stone tablets containing the Ten Commandments, and two rather bewildered priests (played by Matt Everett and Brian Cox) who are attached by ropes.
S: Ah well, I've only made this urinal. It's time I put my diving suit on and took the lobster for his walk.
"SIX MUSIC". This top of the hour Sooty and Sweep goes "Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak!"
(The next record is by DalΓ's Car)
As for the skits and the 9.55am summary, as a proper Shaun listener, I love them, Who does them?
The funniest so far was "We have your child as a guinea pig against the plague and we are going to keep him." "Noooo! take me instead!" as though the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ could genuinely dare show such a "C" movie on any of its channels...

Of course mornings are cheekier. It's well known that you should avoid cheek directly before bed.
I'm with Mike, Wivenhoe and I want you back in the evenings! Gary Crowley may well be a lovely bloke but HE'S NOT YOU!!
Can we just reach the sensible conclusion that Mr Coe is perfect day or night, and should be Grade II Listed.

yes, that's similar to the answer to the question "What is the best colour for a Rover 75" which is actually "it is a beautiful car in any colour" although I favour primrose.
Can you be fined for covering Grade II Listed artefacts in toothpaste?
LoudGeoffW hear here hear. That says it so perfectly about Mr Coe. Shaun Keaveney's absolutely lovely at breakfast too and so so witty, but I find Matt Everitt really hard to take and have to switch over whenever he refers to legends by their first names. Sadly he does this often.
LoudGeoff - Grade II?
Grade 1 more like!
With Grade I, he'd need to get Goverment dispensation for a pair of glasses. So I was going for the more manageable solution.
what about Grade II*?
Today's show was such a hoot. Talk about air-drumming with Klaus Dinger (easy tum tum tum TUM tum tum tum TUM) - I was air shoe gazing to My Bloody Valentine! I also understood for the first time that the idea behind "Duel" is fencing!
Thursday was my first day of 6music since "the" news broke (pesky 12 hour shifts), not sure if it was Gideon on again during daylight hours , but I listened to 6 from about 6.30am (my subconscious told me not to have a lie in) via a combination of DAB, freeview or the web for around 15 hours and havent felt the same enjoyment for a good couple of years , both Gid and Lauren were like going back to the good old days.
Great to have you back in the evening driving seat - excellant show!
Although it was very nice listening to you in the mornings as well.
Kind of glad he is not on in the mornings as I like to listen to the news and sport on a numerically close station and I had to miss all that for a week. For me SK is easy to miss. I have quite gotten used to Gid being on in the evenings and what with all the rushing around in the morning and missing a big chunk on my journey to work I am glad he is back on the evening shift.
Talk about Gideon's show and Freak Zone on the 6 Music Message boards.
