Hello,
Welcome back to those returning. Hello again to those who remained limpet-like on these pages over the part couple of weeks. Those who missed the shows between Christmas and New Year might want to have a listen online. Tuesday's was quite pleasing and it was the ever splendid Gary C on Wednesday. Monday's was okay but I'd start with the other two.
I thought I'd list some reasons to feel okay, if not annoyingly cheery about facing reality on a cold January day.
1 - Spring is up next
2 - the Paris Nice bike race is barely two months away
3 - There are lots of new records
4 - there are lots of old records
5 - It's not to my knowledge a leap year so February won't drag so much
6 - okay that's all I could think of
Expect the usual this week plus some ideas to ponder on themed shows and possibly the first round of "What are we going to do on the show come Election night?"
Not that I know when that is.
*past* apologies.
On election night, you will turn the show over to those who never got a say.
The parties who were ignored, the Green candidate who lost their deposit but liked The Chameleons.
The unsung canvassers, the kid who stomped around with The National on their ipod whilst being made to put leaflets through doors by their parents.
The gallant duffer who likes Penguin Cafe Orchestra and tried to encourage the some Eminem fans to vote.

Just listening to Gideon Roe on R4's Today last Wednesday (my 90th, as it happens). Authoritative, informative, restorative, supportive, adjective, ChasnDave-ive, the natural warm-up act for Thought For The Day.
Just listening to Gideon Roe on R4's Today last WednesdayΒ
Gideon Roe? "In the future we shall all speak like Scooby-Doo", or what? (guesses should rook that rurname up)
"Today last Wednesday" was an inspired satirical show.
Happy 90th, Cyril!
As for the title, I am pondering myself whether this new year is "twenty ten" or maybe "two thousand and ten", as last year was "two thousand and nine". There's a 6Music competitiongram (trail? bed? sweep?) that says both...!
In any case, when reading the number 2010, I always first read it "two oh one oh" like the A4010 ("four oh one oh") somewhere in Buckinghamshire(?)...

Everyone is talking about that - 2010 or 2010 - and it's clearly twenty-ten, no-one ever said "one thousand nine hundred and seventy seven" in 1977 did they!
Gideon Roe is an upcoming new music journalist on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ programme, nowadays known as Radio 4.
Not to be confused with Gideon Cod.

What did they say that man was called, dear?
Gideon Roe, deer.

we get a real Gideon Coe education here and no mistake...
I think I am going to call this year "2 oh 1 oh".
What's that Rush album called? That should give us a clue what to call this year.

Are you getting confused with 90125 by Yes? That should be pronounced - or should it?
How do you pronounce "Beverly Hills" I wonder?
surely all that matters is that he walked with a pronounced limp
L I M P pronounced limp...
thanks Spike
Thanks for playing The Seventeenth Century, Gideon. I knew that you would pick up on them.
