Now then.
It's Monday afternoon and, all being well, I'll be away on holiday by this time on Saturday. I say "all being well" because I always expect the worst. Especially when there's something good on the horizon.
In order to pass some of the time between now and then, apart from the time spent on the show which welcomes guest Viv Albertine on Thursday, I thought I'd start a thread which celebrates wine and song. A celebration of wine in artist names, band names and lyrics. The main purpose of this thread is to bring out some terrible music-based puns around grape varieties. Or just around red and white. And rose.Apologies for the lack of accent there.
I suppose I should go first...
Anything by Gavi Moore
Year of the Chateauneuf du Pape
Cava Chameleon
Beaujolais-y Sunday
Return of the Macon
If you wish to contribute to this thread please do so responsibly.
Cheers

ANOTHER holiday Gideon?
Anyway, a couple of oenopoetic hits from my youth:
Muscat Love by Captain and Tennille
Green Grenache Of Â鶹ԼÅÄ by Tom Jones
"Mustang Chablis" (Wilson Pick-it)
"One Alsatian all under a Groove" (Funkadelic) (can also be used for canine purposes, but don't get the bottles mixed up)
"Only when you Liebfraumilch" (Spandau Ballet)
"Give me just a little more wine" (Chairmen of the Bordeaux)
Gen X - King Rioja...
Pouilly J Harvey - anything by...
Nick Cave - House Red Right hand
Beaujolais Diddley ...R.I.P .... anything by....
From perfect peter...
New Order - Blue Nunday...(thats a good un!)
Peter's is unlikely to be bettered but we can soldier on.
AC/DC - Back in Black Tower.
Rod Screwtop - Reisling to Believe
Peter's is unlikely to be betteredÂ
true, hats off. I'm just glad someone else has done Black Tower.
Andy Partridge was lucky never to have made a film entitled "XTC at the Cool Country Manor".
There's EMF's "Unbelievabullsblood";
Blon-de-alcoholised's "Sunday Gallo"; and
Zinfandel Shannon's "Runarnistonbay"...
...but after "Blue Nunday" it's all a bit like going through the motions TBH...
Something by Cabernet Voltaire, perhaps?
"Bittersweet Symphony" by The Veuve Clicquot

"Chardonnachy Breaky Heart" - Billy Ray Syrah
Will you be marking these, Gid? I can't take failure
a bit of vintage Verve Cliquot now being served up.
OK, a deep breath before the deeper groan...
"A whole lotta rose" by AC/DC
"The Riesling" by Bruce Springsteen
"Rioja all over the world" by Status Quo
"Merlot Sweet Chariot"
Any anything by Evelyn "Champagne"...
Damn, Zinfandel Shannon already suggested, but can I suggest an alternative title in 'Chotes du Rhoneaway'?........No, oh alright then.............
Ian Dury - Reisling to be Cheerful
Lionel Ritchie - Merlot? (Is it me you're looking for)
Dire Straits - Moet for Nothing
Danielle Dax - Cat House Red
Damned - New Rose
Brakes - Porcupinot Pineapple
Bonzos - Death Cabernet for Cutie
Altered Images - Pinky Blue Nun
That'll do for now
OK then, I get the idea...how about…
Hock and Roll by Led-capsule-Zeppelin
Muscat Sally by Wilson-screwtop-Pickett
It don’t mean a thing if it aint got Riesling by Duke – winerack – Ellington
Chardonnay, Chardonnay by Blondie
Cava Chameleon by Culture Wineclub
'Cotes du Rhoneaway'Â
Far better.
Or indeed anything by:
The Justified Ancients of Mu Moulin a Vent;
Jacob’s Creekamouse;
Laurel and Hardy* Wine Company
(*appropriately enough, the road safety "pop up" toasters of Clink Click fame)
This is top notch stuff... good work...

Sorry, had plenty of time to kill now I'm on pre-mod! I didn't even stop to think of Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaski Riesling when wondering - what is a pre-mod? Sounds like you get it in a big syringe - and it makes you grow a parka with a target on it, while your Lambretta sprouts tiny multiple rear view mirrors!

I get the feeling that everyone has now got rather bored of all this but I still keep poughing my lonely furrow; how about:
Bordeaux Happy Day - Edwin Hawkins Singers
Valdivieso It Goes - Nick Lowe
Don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of my empties soon and then I'll run out of inspiration...

I've spelled Morrissey wrong above. He's not an anagram of OR MISERY at all
just come back from Otherplacesareavailable-thattusedtolooklikebigsurreybarns-andwerelightandairy-buthavenowhadtheirfrontdoormovedfortheTHIRDtime-andnowhavenonaturallight-andtheextensionexudesallthecharmofasovietpowerstation-andyoucan'tfindANYTHINGbury's,
where I made the mistake of walking through the wine department.
When I walked over to the Oyster Bay wine, scarcely believing my eyes, (other wine sounding like you have to say "don't fear the reaper, dude!" when you buy it may be available) one kindly old lady shopper recommended it.
When I told her I only wanted it for the name, I felt like Spike Milligan when he asked if they could make him an egg custard in the Â鶹ԼÅÄ canteen. The cook presumed he wasn't feeling very well, so lovingly prepared him an egg custard - which he poured into a sock and threw against the wall for a sound effect.
(It didn't even sound right so he didn't actually use it in the end!)
Well, that's how I felt.
Anyway:
Rockwrock St Vincent;
Barrington Levi Estate Chardonnay;
Blue Öyster Cult Bay Sauvignon Blanc;
Pouilly Fuissé Hello, Wave Goodbye...
Anything by the Chianti-Nowhere LeagueÂ
