The lovely company that I work for, (blessing upon the vice president) have in their ultimate wisdom blocked my listening pleasure. When I click on the link to listen again to the Gidster, it gives me a 404 error. Some how those IT guys have blocked it. I have tried going directly via realplayer and the like, but I get a stern internet warning that the page is blocked.

Can any clever people out there think of a way of getting around this?

    yours hopefully

There are sometimes ways round this depending on how the IT team set the computers up. However - and very importantly - your employer make not take too kindly to you bypassing their lockdowns. It may even be a disciplinary offence.

So I'd suggest something easier which won't get you into trouble - a portable DAB radio with headphones!

(who is glad his employer doesn't block 6music. But then he does work for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ...)

I agree, wilfully circumvent employer restrictions and put your bottom at risk.

So you need something portable that will handle "listen again"?

Presumably computer-enabled phones and things can do this - iPhones/BlackBerries? (other small, but really expensive, posing gear is doubtless available)

But you'd better not be paying by the minute!

Alternatively, when at work, do some work not to music! You might do so well that you buy the company and control the IT department mwaahaahaa...

hmmm...I've been working while listening to 6music for about 8 years now. I used to listen to all the daytime shows even Liz Kershaw in the afternoons. I don't think I can work without 6music in my ears...

...I have argued this point to the IT boss, but he just shrugs and tells me that its come from the top level.

My only option is to record the program as an mpg put it on my ipod(other mp3 players are available) and then listen to it when I get to work. If home taping is killing music, what about home digitising of digital radio?

hmmm...I've been working while listening to 6music for about 8 years now. Β  and this really makes you work better? could it be you could improve your productivity 100% without listening to the radio? smiley - winkeye (perhaps not...I just can't imagine listening to the radio at work without it being a production line with "Worker's Playtime" blaring out!) smiley - winkeye that's not personal, it's just me... smiley - winkeye

I remember when work introduced an 0898 dodgy premium lines phone block. Unfortunately, this also blocked 0895 (Uxbridge) and 0892 (Tunbridge Wells) so these were soon unblocked. Maybe you can plead for an exception...

Or maybe you can save the radio for home and keep it special! smiley - winkeye

and this really makes you work better?Β

I swear that my coding gets better when I listen to Guy Garvey's show. And if office politics is getting me down, I plug into Bruce Dickinson; those power chords don't leave much room for stress, and they even make me type faster... smiley - smiley

    I sympathise, Pete_inthehills. That sucks.
