    ... but I couldn't stop myself from posting this link;

It may well have been added before, but it's new to me and so I thought it only right to share it with the viewing several.

After an initial period of relative shyness, (where he spends quite some time with his back to the audience - tsk!), around the 1m 50sec mark, a familiar face hoves into view and engages in serious camera-hogging. Not bad for a rhythm guitarist, eh? He's also sporting the sort of haircut you could set your watch by.

Have I just be struck from the Christmas card list, Gid?

No problem, it appeals to the show-off in me in a dorian gray sort of way.

The back to the audience is partly because it was a bit of tricky riff at first. And I wanted to be enigmatic. With that in mind, sharp-eared observers will hear that I don't actually know the words of the chorus when I do bvs. I Like that song... written by Karl Hodge - bass/vox. See also Andy Walton on Drums and Neil Bucket on guitar. Talented boys all.

The hair was by Jacks of Gosford St Coventry.

Once we rehearsed through the night - I mean from 7 til 7. And we wrote what we thought was the greatest song of all time. It had about 15 different changes in each verse.
Sadly we never played it again.

I could go on but I'f better get back to work. And it makes me wistful. Thanks Lee.

Did the 12 hour, "all-nighter" involve large quantities of alcohol by any chance?

From my limited knowledege of friend's band practices, strictly enforced alcohol bans tended not to broken soon on in.

That should have read "From my limited knowledege of friend's band practices, strictly enforced alcohol bans tended to be broken soon on in." rather than the drivel I actually wrote!

I think we sobered up by about 4. By then the behemoth had taken shape. WishI could remember how it went. Mainly minor chords I'd think.

A key moment came when the rest of the band decided to spend a summer between terms in Cov. Doing band stuff. I let them down badly by going back to Canterbury to temporarily resume my lettuce hoeing career. Things were never quite the same after that. We could have been contenders. Did lots of gigs though... places like the Colin Campbell and the Hand on Heart. Big places like that.

...so this is Gid's moment in the pinklight.

Well, there's a first, a band with more videos on YouTube than mentions on Google.

Though, googling you, one does get the tip "vendetta maupassant" which contains the French nasal test line "EN SONGEANT A LA VENGEANCE!" (Ask Shaun or Chris H - they have just worked out what "cache" means and how you pronounce it... smiley - winkeye)

Were you Alan Moore fans with a name like that? If so, surely the band with the neatest haircuts ever to follow the "grebo guru".

There's definitely something about having previous as "talent" with you DJs. Mick "oo oo let's all chant" Brown out of Pat and Mick is on commercial Radio Jackie right now!

Aah, but where are the rest of them now. Would you have made it to the giddy heights of 6music were it not for a bit of lettuce hoeing?

No doubt somewhere there's a parallel universe where you didn't go back to Canterbury...
