    Hi

I'm just dropping in to pass on some information about Glastonbury, which is about to kick off again.

Gideon comes direct from Glastonbury to start off 6 Music's festival coverage tomorrow:

    Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 6 Music 25 Jun 2009 21:00–22:00

You can see the full 6 music Music at Glastonbury programme guide here:

We've also just opened a new 6 Music Glastonbury Message board, which you can post to over here:

Hope to see some of you there - and enjoy the music!

    Thanks.

I was just looking at the weather forecast.

But if it's Glastonbury, it's bound to rain...

They've got the Glastonbury weather on the front page of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Glasto site

It looks great until Friday, when the 'great mud maker in the sky' is going to call by the looks of it. Still, it's traditional!

The weather in the week running up is almost as important. It'll be dusty there til the rain then that will - as they say - settle the dust.

Or turn it into mud. However, though there may be a recent tradition for the wet, I remember several dry years in the 1990s where is was impossible to stay in your tent after about 9.30am. Which was tough for those who'd gone to bed half an hour beforehand.

Long time ago. So long ago that Senser were playing the pyramid stage.

Not heard them for a while. Anyway, good to see the new Glastonbury (note the full name, though technically it's Pilton) message boards ticking over already.

I should have posted this there really, but this is my manor.

To me, Glastonbury is when my Finnish friends see the latest (only!) news from Britain and confuse it with all-in mud wrestling. So I'm not actually going...

The banter between Gid and Peta has made it clear that Peta does not actually represent the "Under 24" section of the board but is actually a founder member!

    So not mud wrestling.

Have lots of fun everyone who's going. I won't say "don't do anything I wouldn't do" or you wouldn't be at Glastonbury in the first place. Not that it won't be fun, but I am, of course, a duffer. (though, in a wild concession to the weather, I'm not wearing a tie today).

I suspect if there isn't an area to park your concours standard Vanden Plas 1300 and eat *other factory-made Cherry Bakewells are available* off the rear-seat picnic tray while Birdsong FM blasts out from the Naturezone stage, it's too low in duff for the likes of myself.

    Have a great time!

    Hello

I have spent Β£12.50 on some shocking shades and a hat that's eight sizes too small but it's a lovely place to be. With aching legs

Hope you're enjoying the coverage. Stornaway and Amadou and Mariam were both really good today. Lots of other bits and pieces too.

Please take a look at the glastonbury site, there's some amazing stuff there.

It's several orders of magnitude less than the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Expenses Revelations that we have foisted on us, like we care - if they want to buy Brucie* a nice bottle of champers on his 80th, by all means do, it's a shame the media think we'll be outraged by that.

Also I'm not shocked that the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ have spent several Β£00k on Glasto - of course they have. Well Channel 4 wouldn't, would they!

Perhaps Emily will book some more interesting performers next year. It shouldn't all be reunions and dinosaurs, but from the coverage, ...

    *Brucie "Bonuses Are Back"?

Anybody else think that Gid has "gone native"?

He used the word "vibe" earlier on. That's not a duffer word.

I suppose if you separate a man from his shed there are bound to be adverse consequences.

I'm most put out with the lack of Bad Seeds coverage. It seems endless re-runs of Status Quo were more important.

Considering you could see the second headliners live or the majority of their set on the other days I'm piqued.

How about a complete Peel sessions hour of Birthday Party to make it up ???

I suppose if you separate a man from his shed there are bound to be adverse consequences.Β  Do people not put sheds up at Glastonbury, then?

In Terry Pratchett's "Making Money", the Ankh-Morpork Mint is a huge hall filled with sheds - on the floor and hanging from the walls. The workers in said sheds are described as "The Men of the Sheds" which I was singing to the tune of the Skids' "The Men of the Fall" - as doubtless happens at the real Glastonbury...

I've never wanted to go to Glastonbury and listening to most of the 'amazing' reports and obvious music choices broadcast on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ tv and 6 thought that this was going to be a similar response.

However the coverage and reporting from both Gideon and Cerys has been fantastic. It's the first time in all these years I've ever wished I was there. The enthusiasm intelligent interviews, and informed, fun responses and reporting have been top, top class.

Thank you, quality radio. Other Glastonbury radio highlights have been Adam and Joe and the genius of Sally Traffic commentating on congestion - whoever programmed that knows radio.

If possible next year though would like a 'Freekzone' show made up of suitable acts from the show to go out when it's usually on.

Looking forward to hearing some unsigned discoveries through out the week.

6 Music has made a Glastonbury message board, but I can't find the link from the 6 Music site. So if anyone else is having problems here it is:

Didn't listen to any of the coverage from Glastonbury Festival and I stuck to calling it Gaz, Tom and Barry's Festival, however, did Gideon manage to grab a session with Stornoway and if so, on which show?
