Hello
That's the plan. In and around the sessions and concerts every record will be drawn from suggestions for favourite tracks from favourite compilations.
We had some excellent ones sent in on Monday night but feel free to add on this thread, I'll mix them in with my own and with those from the rest of the team and it should make for a half-decent programme.
Country Got Soul, London Belongs to Me and Now 3 could all feature, please leave your suggestions below.
Thanks
Gidx

I presume the "Now..." series aren't up for consideration, right?
I seem to have come up with a bit of a "World Music" theme here (blame that Kershaw chap - no, not Nik, t'other one, Liz's brother).

I got a tape free with one of the music magazines once.
It featured a track by Mogwai...but when I tried to be like a modern DJ and burn a copy, the tape melted
So I can't tell you what it was, but some Mogwai would be good!

Can I put in a vote for Ace Records Another Saturday Night? Promised Land by Johnnie Allen would be nice.

Found a copy of 'Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From the First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968' on CD, at the local boot fair yesterday.
Featuring The Standells, Chocolate Watch Band, Third Rail, 13th Floor Elevators, Nazz, Amboy Jukes and many many more.
'Pushin' too hard' by The Seeds, is the absolute highlight though. Ace. Get it on the list Gid.

There's various Nuggets, and also Pebbles, compilations; I picked up a 4cd set (Trash Box) which seems to have all the Pebbles stuff - and a bit more - on it. Beaver Patrol by the Wilde Knights, for instance; I never knew that it wasn't a Poppies original.

Beaver Patrol? Is that the same one Pop Will Eat Itself sang? was it a cover?
Link to this forum: Weds 24th June - Compilation Compilation show
Yes and yes; as I said, I never knew that either.

May I say how good this show was.
The Field Mice reminded me that Bristol was once famous for something other than riots and "The Young Ones".
Lots of other good stuff I've never heard before. But then, 6Music is meant to be like that really knowledgeable mate who comes round to your house with all these records you've never heard but he knows you'll like.
However, that doesn't mean it's OK for Gideon not to come into work in the evenings! I've heard of post-modernist - but just imagine the panic in Tolhurst Towers on hearing the Postgatism of the "end of show" music (Ivor the Engine?) at 9:30! I know it was the Midsummer show, but midnight music while it's not quite dark outside? Shades of Finland!

And I've done what Valour suggested......

Yeah where's the playlist? Did Mr Coe play Pushin Too Hard by The Seeds? I see lead singer Sky Saxon died yesterday, probably from a broken heart after being harshly ignored by the legendary Gid.
RIP Sky.
