After the glut of Christmas songs,I'm really struggling to think of any 'pop' songs that are specifically about New Year.
'Fairytale' straddles it a bit as does 'War is Over ', but only slightly.
Any ideas??
There aren't many, off the top of my head I can offer Death Cab For Cutie's New Year, George Harrison's long forgotten Ding Dong and Regina Spektor's My Dear Acquaintance (Happy New Year)
Hmmmm... let me think.
There's Abba's "Happy New Year", then there's "This Year" by Curtis Mayfield and what about "New Year's Day" by U2?
I'll have to have a think about this and come back to it...
Hello everyone, belated new year greetings.
There's a song by Arco called Happy New Year which beautiful and delightfully bleak. And there's a line in the Sarah Harmer song "Tether" which goes
"After that Christmas, I think that I might sleep the whole new year."....that one rings increasingly true with each passing year.
Will play the Luna number tonight. Better get to work.

There seems to be a niche market that not yet cornered here - I'd love to here an Indie/Punky anthem written for NYE that would be sung for years to come.
Is it a guilty pleasure to say I quite like 'New Year' by the Sugarbabes?
