Having been afflicted with some form of terrible food poisoning this weekend it got me thinking of songs of sickness. Can't come up with anything about the actual act of vomitous horribulous (can anyone?) but here's a few..
You Give Me Fever - Peggy Lee
Cardiac Arrest - Madness
The drugs don't work - The Verve
Shake the disease - Depeche Mode

10cc mentions 'double pneumonia' in their hit 'Life Is A minestrone'.
There's quite a lot of things mentioned in 'Medical Love Song' on the Monty Python Contractual Obligation Album, but most of them can't be spoken of here....

Touch Me I'm Sick - Mudhoney
Sick of You - Iggy and the Stooges
Stay Sick - The Cramps
Sick sick sick - Queens of the Stone Age
Still Ill - The Smiths
And for the really poorly...
Girlfriend in a Coma
Death at One's Elbow
Magnatron by Kenickie is a great hangover song. Trouble is, if you think of it when you're rolling around in bed with a killer of a hangover.. it kind of makes it worse.
The Sick Bed of Cuchulainn - The Pogues
Sick, Sober and Sorry - Gene
TB Sheets - Van Morrison

The puking song - Dead Milkmen
(admittedly not the most profound little ditty you could find, but certainly appropriate)
Catch this disease - Model Horror.
Disease - Echo and the Bunnymen
Malaria - Shriekback
Outbreak Of Vitas Gerulaitis - Half Man Half Biscuit (well, it should be an illness...)

I once suffered from glandular fewver for a period of about three months. At its worst when I also had an era infection and was feeling utterly miserable, the Go Betweens released their Liberty Belle album. I loved the GBs, had to get someone to tbuy the album for me and bring it straight round. Trouble is that now whenever I listen to that album it takes me right back to feeling utterly miserable and in pain all over again!!
Is an 'era infection' something akin to a radio station that once was great, being eroded by a pernicious talentless DJ virus type thing that leaves it sounding like a station from 30 years ago?
Back on topic...
Green Onions - Booker T & The MGS
Of course the classic heuy inspired 'Vertigo' by U2
Has anyone ever done a song called "Liver and Bacon at Gunpoint"?
[ah, memories, eh, Mum?]
Or "Two Bottles of Port, 4 Pints and a G&T"?
That was quite a night. Mrs Fist gave me a firemen's lift all the way home. The next morning was horrendous. Put me off port for days.
Try Spaghetti bolognaise, Jack Daniels and badly fitted floorboards, I can say no more, but Mrs Mozo can no longer abide the smell of JD.

"Sick" - by Beatnik Filmstars. Can't say fairer than that!
Sick and tired - Anastasia
In the interest of truth and transparency, I think I should point out that the "food" which "poisoned" the originator of this thread was a bottle of cheap supermarket red.
I don't know what you mean Fisty. It was poisonous crisps. Do I know you?

Alcohol is the purest form of food as my old mate Ian used to say.. and he survived on nothing else..
Just the one poisonous crisp, all evening. Plus the entire bottle of wine.

Pickled onion flavour? I never trusted those..
Aha! You get your wine from co-op too!
Wine is very good for you - full of vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, omega 3 and 6 oils and fibre. Can't understand how that could make anyone sick
mind you ... if its from the co-op that might be different

I can't understand it either - that's why I keep trying it over and over again until I get the right result..
The wine was fine I can assure you: Red - good for the heart; Fairly Traded - good for the soul. I won't be buying crisps from the Co-op again though.
Chemical Brothers – The Pills Won’t Help You
Elbow – Crawling With Idiot
(possibly towards the loo to barf?)
Faithless – Emergency
Sick Love Song - Motley Crue
Night Nurse - Gregory Isaacs (thanks Paul!)
Has nobody mentioned the punk classic 'Sick On You' by The Boys?
The band's brilliant debut album was released on the day Elvis died in 1977. It's currently available in a nice digipak edition with great sleevenotes from Captain Oi! records. Well worth a listen.
