Just found a mint condition copy of John Cale's "Vintage Violence" in a charity shop for Β£1-50, Can anyone better that?
I found a mint 10-inch album by Paul Robeson in a Herne Bay junk shop which cost me 50p.
And The Smiths 'This Charming Man New York Mix' 12-inch single in a Horsham record Fair for Β£1.
The days of such bargains seem to be getting few and far between these days though.
At the other end of the scale I saw a copy of 'Slippery When Wet' ON CASSETTE the other day, yours for only... Β£9.
The credit crunch has left no man standing.
Most charity shops now have professional record pricers who volunteer for them. I suppose they have to maximise their cash. But Β£9 for a rubbish cassette? Where the hell was that?

In 2003 in got a mint mono first pressing on the Beatles Sgt Pepper including the red & white insets, for 99p from Help the Aged in Dewsbury.
I agree that most charity shops now have a "valuer", thus RC grade fair/poor copies of Jam singles etc are put on the shelves at Β£5 .. LOL
WOW!
The Noah's Ark Trap by Nic Jones from car boot sale a couple of years ago for 80p! Wasn't aware of how valuable it was at the time, turns out to be about Β£50-60!

If this is just about charity shop bargains, then mine may not count, but back in the early 80's the town where I went to school (Lutterworth) had a music/record shop, that had some fine racks of LP's as well as the usual boxes of singles, both new and ex-jukebox, amongst the sheet music, guitar strings and violins. Anyway, browsing through the rows of Tom Jones, Osmonds and Sinatra, one lunch time, I noticed a familiar looking sleeve, and let out a shriek of joy that resulted in a kick from the girlfriend. In the rack was a mint, untouched, never played copy of Scott 4 by Noel Scott Engel himself. It had been sitting in the rack since 1969...
Now I was a massive Scott fan, and already had a decent collection of his stuff, but I only had a 4th or 5th gen. taped copy of Scott 4, even so I already thought it was his greatest work, and it sounded fantastic even through the hiss and wobble of the tape.
With some trepidation I asked the old guy who ran the shop how much this was, he examined it, looked at the inner sleeve and went out the back to get the price book for Phillips records. I was starting to shake by now, and when he came back and said Β£2.50, my shrill "how much?" was met with another kick from the girlfriend and a quizzical second glance at the record by the proprietor. Luckily we had enough between us, and I walked out of the shop with a record that, at the time, would have cost Β£20/Β£30 to buy second hand, and is now worth at least Β£40/Β£50.
Not that I would ever sell it.
