Spear of Destiny. Burning Spear. Spearhead. Roger Ruskin-Spear.
All good. But that's not why I'm here tonight.
I reckon it's written in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Charter that if any Hawkwind track other than Hurry on Sundown or Silver machine is broadcast, then the British monarchy will fall, sea roll over us all etc.
Gid - fancy tempting fate and playing "We took the Wrong Step Years Ago". Or "Sonic Attack"? Or other?
Happenstance in action: Turns out Chris Hawkins had done a Hawkwind gig on Monday last, featuring Sonic attack amongst others. So my implied criticism of the beeb was unfair.
Please convey my apologies to Lord Reith.
But now they've got the 8 track out of the cellar and dusted it off, someone could play a few more tracks here and there - nobody would notice except for a few of us!
Anything from Quark, Strangeness and Charm? Or is that stretching things too far?
Not everyting in the seventies was crap [discuss]. Here's Item A in the evidence for the defence:
John Martyn - Spencer the Rover.
It doesn't get much better than that. Keep an eye on that right thumb!
Gid - if you've already mined this seam , I apologise for having missed it. If not, may I humbly request.....
I have no memory of making that post! I must have been weary last night(ahem hem).
But having the link clicked thereupon, I find that even in the depths of alcholic blackout, I seem to have good taste. Don't know what I was on about re: the thumb though. Looks like any old thumb to me.
Now, where are my trousers?
That would be your excuse for using the word 'ting' then.
If that's not a warning of the dangers of the demon drink I don't know what is.

Roger Ruskin-Spear ... well I never knew that. I've got one of his dad's drawings of a football match.
Even men with steel hearts love to see a bonzo dog on the pitch ..
Hawkwind last night - '72 - good vintage. Freaky stuff. Thanks.
Trouble is, at several points I was reminded muchly of 'silver machine' and expected the Lemmster to take over on vocals....
Trouble? We'll have no trouble here!
I seem to recall a rumour that the Orb were going collaborate with Lemmy to record a "re-working" or Silver Machine back in the 90s. Does anyone know if that ever came to be?
Lemmy was also in a relativley well received British "horror" film around the same time called "Hardware". I don't think it resulted in much film work for him subsequently, although I believe he may then have been involved in the odd "gentlemen's" film. Ahem.
There are some confusing and terrifying things in this thread.

Catching up with Listen Again and just listened to Hawkwind from Tuesday.
It brought back memories of DeMontford Hall, the smell of biker jackets, spilt beer (too young to indulge then) and the fug of illicit substances being smoked. It was a hazy arena that night. Bob was so off his trolley he fell over backwards half way through the set and nobody on stage seemed to notice. I guess it was a normal occurrence then!
Thanks Gideon - your show is one which makes 6 Music worth listening to
