Have noticed in recent weeks how many mentions there have been of listeners from my area of Bath & Bradford-on-Avon on Gid's show! Seems we all have excellent music taste! Perhaps we should organise a meet up with a view to perhaps getting a decent music event arranged in the area!? Or just get together for some social!? Don't know many interesting souls locally, so how about it. Who knows I may even meet some future gig buddies!?
C'mon good and tasteful people of Bath & surrounds!
    Paul, Bradford-on-Avon.

Get with it, Collexions: you should simply take the Telegraph. Its, I presume unintentionally, hilarious letters page is peppered on a daily basis with contributions from residents of Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset.
I feel sure there must be at least one Lt Cdr (Rtd) willing to attend the next Dame Vera Lynn gig.

I'm guessing that those of her admirable era who are now no longer with us may have tribute acts: any suggestions as to what they might be called?

    Collexions,

I think this is a very noble idea and one to be saluted, [raises right hand to brow]. However...

I tried to generate similar interest in a Summer get-together based in our Nation's Capital, via Gideon's Facebook group. After some sterling efforts from Rachael and the odd, over-eager sounding postings from myself, our attempts to generate some collective enthusiasm resulted in identifying just 4 people who were up for such a beer/food/music session. And one of those was me!

To those who did show interest, many thanks, you know who you are. I still think we should meet up, even if there's only the four of us, (five if you're up for it Collexions).

Drujay - if you were to turn up too, you could help me with my spelling on a one-to-one basis. :o)

Would we need a licence for a gathering of 6 people in a public place?

That's probably because you lucky folk have the incredible PURR Promotions, probably one of the best DIY, unsigned band promoters in the UK, with an incredible track record, of bringing in bands that a city the size of Bath really shouldn't be getting, especially considering your close proximity to Bristol.

I mean just look at that archive:

if 6 Music managers had any wit they'd be giving these people a show:

I'd be up for some sort of knees-up.

Instead of getting too ambitious too soon, maybe it would be simpler if we just targetted a forthcoming gig at Bath (or maybe Bristol) and met up for a beer there. It'd make a nice change from sitting there with my book.

Anybody wanna suggest a suitable gig? If it turns out to be rubbish we won't blame you (much).

    Ian, Bruton

    Ian,

Glad there's more of us out there than originally (under)estimated. If you take a look on the Gideon Coe Appreciation Society on Facebook, you will see that Rachel and I are still knocking the idea around. Uptake is mighty slow though, disappointingly.

More details to follow but keep your peepers on this group and we'll try to make sure word is spread on these fair pages too.

    Lee,
    The Glorious North.

    Ian,

Finally managed to get my finger out and sort out Gid-Fest 2008 as an event on Facebook. If you're on there let me know and I'll get an invite to you.

If not I'll try and keep you posted on what, where and when.

    Lee,

    The Glorious North.
