And just want to say (in an anguished tone)..."still miss you, Gid, in the mornings"....
I agree fully with the above!
Seconded. Listening again just isn't the same, and I can't email him any more!
Very sad.
I agree, it just doesn't feel the same. I can't interact in any way and the news is old.
It was all so easy back in the old days, now we have to decide when to 'listen again', what cd's to play and what other stations to listen to now daytime 6 has changed.
Hello there
Chin up now, interaction is a big part of the show. Bigger than I ever imagined it could be as it goes. Naturally this can't be quite the same for those listening again but we do make sure we include e-mails from those using the i-player as part of "housekeeping". Think of it as a conversation on a very delayed line. A bit like a phone call to the far east is the olden days. E-mail anytime and it will hopefully be part of a future show.
Saturday night and I'm on my own message board. Sad or dedicated? Or, more likely, both.
Keep rocking

Talking of Saturday night - it was well worth staying in for Pete Mitchell's John McGeoch documentary on R2. Finest guitarist of his generation!
Swings and roundabouts I think, the new time is not as convenient for me either but I think the new show is even better, Gideon seems to have taken full advantage of the extra freedom the 10pm slot affords.
Agreed - the new show is lovely'n'all. But by the time I've scraped the deep layers of work-related filth from my shivering frame, marvelled at Mrs Onan's Max Wall impersonation, done some child-focused shouting, force fed them gruel at gunpoint, and nailed the lids firmly onto their cots, I'm usually ready for tormented slumber by 10pm. So I'm not getting anywhere enough Gid these days. Indeed, I'd say things were Gid-Lite at Onan Towers. This is bad.
Gid for the breakfast show, that's what I say.
AlMcGregor - the John McGeoch documentary was great. I would have missed that, so thanks for pointing it out although I then spent most of Sunday afternoon getting to grips with my guitar and Siouxsie and the Banshees records trying to work out the Christine chord and other stuff.
It's easy to forget what a great and influential guitarist he was so Gid, any chance of a John McGeoch type theme one night? There must be some good sessions in the archives.
I'll second the John McGeoch theme night request. Haven't heard The Armoury Show in a good while. Catherine is a particular favourite of mine.

Just not the same is it?
Nice to see you on here Gid. Sorry to say that I haven't been able to "listen again" to more than about two shows since you moved slots, my connection just doesn't seem to be able to handle it.
I tried to give GL a try, it's strange but I wasn't sure about Gid the first time I heard him after tuning in to listen to Phil Jupitus, but in the end it was him (and the music) that got me hooked. Mr Lamb just ain't the right type of presenter for 6.

Hiya Gid,
Lovely to hear from you on this board...it's hard to keep your chin up though when the radio station you thought was just your cup of tea removes your good self and replaces it with George Lamb.........I willl never understand the thinking behind that.
I have just been listening to Lesley Douglas on Feedback saying how good GL is well she would say that wouldn't she but he's not you Gid.
I can't always catch you on listen again Gid .....so will never forgive Lesley Douglas for moving you from the morning slot.
Best wishes mate.
Hey Gid - how come you're not mentioned on Feedback, eh? You need to up your profile - employ some new PR guys.
As the the great man said, the only bad publicity is an obituary!
Seems like on 6music now a DJ's worth is measured in the amount of emails, txt's and any other feedback [Feedback, Ha ha!] he receives.
With that in mind, Gid, here's my bit of f/back for the best dj/presenter of modern music on British Radio...............Jimmy Saville.....d'oh ...sorry I mean ......dah, dah dah daaa.... Mr Gideon Coe everyone, put your hands together ... shabaa
6music must value quantity over quality if it values the sort of inane emails Lamb attracts over the reasonably intelligent and witty correspondence from Gid's listeners.
Actually it's all us women's fault for being too stupid to appreciate the sort of intelligent broadcasting put out by the likes of Gid. I should have known.
Talk about Gideon's show and Freak Zone on the 6 Music Message boards.
