I have seen the odd one come to my bird feeder. But it's usually tits (Great and Blue) or starlings.
And occassionally pigeons (grr!)
Seagulls around these parts have been watching the blackbirds and copied that "stamping the feet" behaviour to encourage worms to come to the surface - with considerable success. Always causes considerable mirth to see the webbed-foot stamp in action!
Today's fodder: old rolls and a scattering of seed
Sightings: 3 collared doves, no sparrows

Living up here in the wilds of Scotland and being the only one to put up bird feeders in our glen we get a large range of birds most of which are LBJ's (little brown jobs). Although an exhaustive list does appeal to my duffering nature, I feel that this would only lead to over competitiveness and perhaps even parody.
Instead, I shall tell the tale of the pheasant on the bird table trying to eat the bird seed out of one of my hanging feeders.
OK, here goes...
there was a pheasant on the bird table and you'll never guess what? It was trying to reach down and eat seed out of one of the hanging feeders.

Just a flock of starlings today, which was alright. They're getting rarer too these days.
I do feel there is an aspect of duffing in this. As a youngster, I'd go out with my notepad and write a list of all the species I had seen. I admit I cheated and that I would write down, "House sparrow, Starling, Blackbird, Common gull, Herring gull, etc" before I had even seen them that day. It was a given that I would before the next calendar day.
Now, I couldn't do that. Where are the house sparrows? I haven't seen one in weeks. My garden offers them the food, the foliage, a drinking hole and a bit of mud for a fine dust bath.
i haven't seen any sparrows for quite some time... the last ones being in Edinburgh. i can tell you that the streets of Stockholm and Githeburg were full of them last summer... it reminded me of what london streets were like in the 70s.
i did read that the London Wetlands Centre has seen sparrows and they're looking at the nest boxes and breeding holes in the walls there.
lots of siskin around
how many sparrows do you want?
they're partial to black sunflower seeds round here - place is heaving with them
bit short on tits, great, blue, longtail, whatever, there are lots of different finch, siskin too, one very narky robin, one blackbird (brown is the new black - she's one demented bird)and two wood pigeons drop in most days.
not to get all trumpet about it I once saw a partridge, legs first running about, hanging out with the sparrows.
Who's still got their Observer Book of Birds?

Great big picture of a robin on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ homepage right now - which reminded me that we saw our first robin on our bird feeder in November. It was a very happy moment
Non, rien de rien.
Too windy.

Thanks for the link. I'll top up the feeders and as luck would have it I've got some more black sunflower seeds today. I've still not seen any sparrows here yet.

I confirm the sighting of one male house sparrow in a tree. It was sadly not tempted to visit for some old pancakes and apples.
I went on an international sparrow quest over the last few days, I visited the country you call 'England'. I didn't see any sparrows, I had to settle with a few moorhens and coots near an urban lake.

Sparrows? They've all come to Basingscrote [sic]. Have to refill my feeder most days due to the rampant gaggles of sparrows. Also get plenty of blue tits (occassional great tits), and had a rare sighting of a brambling just a couple of weeks ago (had to look that up in a twitcher book).
I received the big watch results yesterday, county by county, didn't know the Highlands were a county, Aberdeen gets Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire, not that I'm picking on Aberdeen.
Chaffinch out number Sparrows 2-1 in the Highland result - not in my backyard.
Got a postcard from Australian Aunt Martha this morning - picture of a Blue Wren - smashing wee thing. They turn blue in winter and she wonders why.
Mind and spring forward the night.
