Live sessions are good. It's the live gigs and the annoying clapping and cheering that I don't like, it keeps me awake. Can't they just wave lighters in the air and make no noise?

Totally disagree. I think the live stuff adds a great element to the show.

The live songs from Portishead last night for example had a marvellous rawness and edge to them that I wouldn't have expected having only ever heard a few CD tracks by them.

I did always enjoy website wasteland mind you. Would Johnny Dee be up for doing the back shift though?

Funnily enough I was out with Johnny after the last mornning show and I said to him "You don't want to come in late at night do you?" and he said "Yeah". I thought he was joking.

Once he returns one of my calls I'll say it again. Then I'll see if we can afford it. Anyway, thanks for the comments. I know some of you love the live chunks and some don't. I'm in the middle of that maelstrom juggling with your needs. And it's a lovely place to be.

Now its had a bit of time to settle in I think the ratio of live music is just about right, without too many lengthy segments of it.

Whoever the live act is I would prefer to hear concert versions of their best known work (or hits if they've had any) and avoid the more obscure stuff inevitably brought out at gigs to which the already converted have paid to go, thereby eliminating the extended drum solos or self-indulgent segments which are fine if you are there are at the time but can sound a bit boring on the radio.

**** me Gideon Coe has spoken to me wow

all i was saying is that there seems to be too much live music for your show when i expected you to bring your excellent show to your new slot, i havent heard anything great since mark & lard left the 10-12 slot on radio 1 ten years ago.
still keep up the excellent work as we have nothing up here(north-west)

I still like the live stuff, it's great to hear 3 tracks in a row, maybe hear a slightly different version, hopefully hear something you know and something you maybe don't know.

OK, so I enjoy the live stuff that I already like better, but I find it more atmospheric than live on the telly, maybe it's the thing about the pictures being better on the radio, or just not being distracted by the usually poor visual.

Plus the advantages of choosing your own volume level, whether you sit/stand or even lie down and who you are next to. And no bother getting home afterwards.
