Who Let the Dogs Out has been written by local writing duo Sue Louch and Val Shearer from South Devon.

The two first submitted the script to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon in 2006, and were asked to develop the script after attending a radio writing workshop, organised by the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ producers.

Sarah Solftley, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon's Assistant Editor, said: "We've been producing radio drama at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon for nearly two years now and are keen to work with local writers to develop their ideas.

"We were eager to work with Sue and Val after reading the first draft of the play which had us laughing out loud many times.

The cast of 20 was selected following a series of open auditions were held in the South Devon area during October 2007.

Rehearsals were held in Plymouth and Newton Abbot during November, with the final recording taking place in early December.

Sue and and Val enjoyed the challenge of bringing their work to a wider audience: "We both felt that working on a radio script would be challenging; bringing pictures to an audience without the luxuryΜύof any visual input.Μύ

"It is also far easier to work with virtual animals rather than real ones with minds of their own."

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon's previous drama productions include The Witches of Bideford, Anywhere to Anywhere, Hallsands and Gerald, the story of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum's giraffe.
