Lesley Goss - fed up at all the rubbish

Packing Blues

Lesley Goss from Totnes is so fed up with supermarket waste that she has recorded a song about it.

A Devon woman has done her bit to highlight the wastefulness of packaging, by writing a song about the issue.

Lesley Goss, from Totnes, has uploaded the song, Packing Blues, to her myspace website in the hope of getting the message across.

Lesley has just begun to write songs after attending the Rockshop course at Dartington Summer School - which was led in 2007 by famous bass player Herbie Flowers.

Lesley said: "The amount of recycling you have to do after doing your shopping just drives me mad.

"All the stuff you have when you get home from the supermarket - it's just such a waste."

The song is a real family affair because Lesley is joined on the track by her son Oliver on bass guitar and husband Richard on saxophone.

So far, Packing Blues has gone down well: "I've had a really good response," said Lesley.

"It's something which is in everybody's life. But it's not a political campaign or anything like that. Obviously it's a serious issue, but the song has made people smile."

Lesley now hopes to learn more about songwriting: "I have written another song as well, called 45's Fine, which I wrote because being 45 is fine!

"I'd like to go on writing songs - the music as well as the lyrics," she said.
